Genesis 3:8-15
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 3
8
Now they heard the sound of the
Lord
God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the
Lord
God among the trees of the garden.
9
Then the
Lord
God called to the man, and said to him, 'Where are you?'
10
He said, 'I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.'
11
And He said, 'Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree from which I commanded you not to eat?'
12
The man said, 'The woman whom You gave
to be
with me, she gave me some of
the fruit of
the tree, and I ate.'
13
Then the
Lord
God said to the woman, 'What is this
that
you have done?' And the woman said, 'The serpent deceived me, and I ate.'
14
Then the
Lord
God said to the serpent,
'Because you have done this,
Cursed are you more than all the livestock,
And more than any animal of the field;
On your belly you shall go,
And dust you shall eat
All the days of your life;
15
And I will make enemies
Of you and the woman,
And of your offspring and her Descendant;
He shall bruise you on the head,
And you shall bruise Him on the heel.'
King James Version
Chapter 3
8
And they heard the voice of the
Lord
God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the
Lord
God amongst the trees of the garden.
9
And the
Lord
God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10
And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
11
And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
12
And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
13
And the
Lord
God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
14
And the
Lord
God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Chapter 3
8
Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the
Lord
God walking in the garden at the time of the evening breeze, and they hid from the
Lord
God among the trees of the garden.
9
So the
Lord
God called out to the man and said to him, "Where are you?"
10
And he said, "I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid."
11
Then he asked, "Who told you that you were naked? Did you eat from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?"
12
The man replied, "The woman you gave to be with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate."
13
So the
Lord
God asked the woman, "What is this you have done?" And the woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate."
14
So the
Lord
God said to the serpent:
Because you have done this,
you are cursed more than any livestock
and more than any wild animal.
You will move on your belly
and eat dust all the days of your life.
15
I will put hostility between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and her offspring.
He will strike your head,
and you will strike his heel.
New Living Translation
Chapter 3
8
When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the man and his wife heard the
Lord
God walking about in the garden. So they hid from the
Lord
God among the trees.
9
Then the
Lord
God called to the man, 'Where are you?'
10
He replied, 'I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.'
11
Who told you that you were naked?' the
Lord
God asked. 'Have you eaten from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat?'
12
The man replied, 'It was the woman you gave me who gave me the fruit, and I ate it.'
13
Then the
Lord
God asked the woman, 'What have you done?' 'The serpent deceived me,' she replied. 'That’s why I ate it.'
14
Then the
Lord
God said to the serpent,
'Because you have done this, you are cursed
more than all animals, domestic and wild.
You will crawl on your belly,
groveling in the dust as long as you live.
15
And I will cause hostility between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and her offspring.
He will strike your head,
and you will strike his heel.'
