Genesis 3:1-3
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 3
1
Now the serpent was more cunning than any animal of the field which the
Lord
God had made. And he said to the woman, 'Has God really said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?'
2
The woman said to the serpent, 'From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat;
3
but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.’?'
King James Version
Chapter 3
1
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the
Lord
God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2
And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3
But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Christian Standard Bible

God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, ‘You can’t eat from any tree in the garden’?"
2
The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat the fruit from the trees in the garden.
3
But about the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, God said, ‘You must not eat it or touch it, or you will die.’"
New Living Translation
Chapter 3
1
The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the
Lord
God had made. One day he asked the woman, 'Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?'
2
Of course we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,' the woman replied.
3
It’s only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God said, ‘You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.’'
English Standard Version

2
And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden,
3
but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’"
New International Version
