Brothers and fathers, hear my defense

And when they heard that he was addressing them in the Hebrew dialect, they became

When they heard that he was addressing them in Aramaic, they became even quieter.

Brothers and esteemed fathers,' Paul said, 'listen to me as I offer my defense.'

When they heard him speaking in their own language, the silence was even greater.
