17And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.
18And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,
19Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:

18When they came to him, he said to them, "You know, from the first day I set foot in Asia, how I was with you the whole time,
19serving the Lord with all humility, with tears, and during the trials that came to me through the plots of the Jews.

16Paul had decided to sail on past Ephesus, for he didn’t want to spend any more time in the province of Asia. He was hurrying to get to Jerusalem, if possible, in time for the Festival of Pentecost. 17But when we landed at Miletus, he sent a message to the elders of the church at Ephesus, asking them to come and meet him.English Standard Version

18When they arrived, he said to them: 'You know how I lived the whole time I was with you, from the first day I came into the province of Asia.
19I served the Lord with great humility and with tears and in the midst of severe testing by the plots of my Jewish opponents.
