For David, after he had served God’s purpose in his own generation, fell asleep, and was buried among his fathers and underwent decay;

but He whom God raised did not undergo decay.

For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.

For David, after serving God's purpose in his own generation, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and decayed,

but the one God raised up did not decay.

This is not a reference to David, for after David had done the will of God in his own generation, he died and was buried with his ancestors, and his body decayed.

No, it was a reference to someone else — someone whom God raised and whose body did not decay.

but he whom God raised up did not see corruption.
