Acts 13:18-25
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 13
18
For a period of about forty years He put up with them in the wilderness.
19
When He had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, He distributed their land as an inheritance—
all of which took
about 450 years.
20
After these things He gave
them
judges until Samuel the prophet.
21
Then they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years.
22
After He had removed him, He raised up David to be their king, concerning whom He also testified and said, ‘I have found David, the son of Jesse, a man after My heart, who will do all My will.’
23
From the descendants of this man, according to promise, God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus,
24
after John had proclaimed, before His coming, a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
25
And while John was completing his course, he kept saying, ‘What do you suppose that I am? I am not
He.
But behold, one is coming after me, the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to untie.’
King James Version
Chapter 13
18
And about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness.
19
And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Chanaan, he divided their land to them by lot.
20
And after that he gave unto them judges about the space of four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet.
21
And afterward they desired a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, by the space of forty years.
22
And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.
23
Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:
24
When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
25
And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think ye that I am? I am not he. But, behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.

Chapter 13
18
And for about forty years he put up with them in the wilderness;
19
and after destroying seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave them their land as an inheritance.
20
This all took about 450 years. After this, he gave them judges until Samuel the prophet.
21
Then they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years.
22
After removing him, he raised up David as their king and testified about him:’
I have found David
the son of Jesse to be
a man after my own heart
, who will carry out all my will.’
23
"From this man’s descendants, as he promised, God brought to Israel the Savior, Jesus.
24
Before his coming to public attention, John had previously proclaimed a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
25
Now as John was completing his mission, he said, ‘Who do you think I am? I am not the one. But one is coming after me, and I am not worthy to untie the sandals on his feet.’
New Living Translation
Chapter 13
18
He put up with them through forty years of wandering in the wilderness.
19
Then he destroyed seven nations in Canaan and gave their land to Israel as an inheritance.
20
All this took about 450 years. 'After that, God gave them judges to rule until the time of Samuel the prophet.
21
Then the people begged for a king, and God gave them Saul son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, who reigned for forty years.
22
But God removed Saul and replaced him with David, a man about whom God said, ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He will do everything I want him to do.’
23
And it is one of King David’s descendants, Jesus, who is God’s promised Savior of Israel!
24
Before he came, John the Baptist preached that all the people of Israel needed to repent of their sins and turn to God and be baptized.
25
As John was finishing his ministry he asked, ‘Do you think I am the Messiah? No, I am not! But he is coming soon — and I’m not even worthy to be his slave and untie the sandals on his feet.’
