Chapter 5

6And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, which said, 'And now as this letter comes to you, behold, I have sent Naaman my servant to you, so that you may cure him of his leprosy.' 7But when the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes and said, 'Am I God, to kill and to keep alive, that this man is sending word to me to cure a man of his leprosy? But consider now, and see how he is seeking a quarrel against me.'
8Now it happened, when Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, that he sent word to the king, saying, 'Why did you tear your clothes? Just have him come to me, and he shall learn that there is a prophet in Israel.' 9So Naaman came with his horses and his chariots, and stood at the doorway of Elisha’s house.

6And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this letter is come unto thee, behold, I have therewith sent Naaman my servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his leprosy. 7And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me.
8And it was so, when Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Wherefore hast thou rent thy clothes? let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel. 9So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha.

6He brought the letter to the king of Israel, and it read: When this letter comes to you, note that I have sent you my servant Naaman for you to cure him of his skin disease.
7When the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes and asked, "Am I God, killing and giving life that this man expects me to cure a man of his skin disease? Recognize that he is only picking a fight with me."
8When Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, he sent a message to the king, "Why have you torn your clothes? Have him come to me, and he will know there is a prophet in Israel." 9So Naaman came with his horses and chariots and stood at the door of Elisha’s house.

6The letter to the king of Israel said: 'With this letter I present my servant Naaman. I want you to heal him of his leprosy.'
7When the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes in dismay and said, 'Am I God, that I can give life and take it away? Why is this man asking me to heal someone with leprosy? I can see that he’s just trying to pick a fight with me.'
8But when Elisha, the man of God, heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes in dismay, he sent this message to him: 'Why are you so upset? Send Naaman to me, and he will learn that there is a true prophet here in Israel.'
9So Naaman went with his horses and chariots and waited at the door of Elisha’s house.
