1 Corinthians 15:28-36
New American Standard Bible
29For otherwise, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why then are they baptized for them?
30Why are we also in danger every hour?
31I affirm, brothers and sisters, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, that I die daily.
32If from human motives I fought with wild beasts at Ephesus, what good is it to me? If the dead are not raised, LET’S EAT AND DRINK, FOR TOMORROW WE DIE.
33Do not be deceived: 'Bad company corrupts good morals.'
34Sober up morally and stop sinning, for some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
King James Version
Chapter 15
28And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all. 29Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead? 30And why stand we in jeopardy every hour? 31I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily. 32If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and drink; for to morrow we die. 33Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. 34Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.Christian Standard Bible
29Otherwise what will they do who are being baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, then why are people baptized for them?
30Why are we in danger every hour?
31I face death every day, as surely as I may boast about you, brothers and sisters, in Christ Jesus our Lord.
32If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus as a mere man, what good did that do me? If the dead are not raised, Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.
33Do not be deceived: "Bad company corrupts good morals."
34Come to your senses and stop sinning; for some people are ignorant about God. I say this to your shame.
New Living Translation
30And why should we ourselves risk our lives hour by hour?
31For I swear, dear brothers and sisters, that I face death daily. This is as certain as my pride in what Christ Jesus our Lord has done in you.
32And what value was there in fighting wild beasts — those people of Ephesus — if there will be no resurrection from the dead? And if there is no resurrection, 'Let’s feast and drink, for tomorrow we die!'
33Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for 'bad company corrupts good character.'
34Think carefully about what is right, and stop sinning. For to your shame I say that some of you don’t know God at all.
English Standard Version
29Otherwise, what do people mean by being baptized on behalf of the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized on their behalf?
30Why are we in danger every hour?
31I protest, brothers, by my pride in you, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die every day!
32What do I gain if, humanly speaking, I fought with beasts at Ephesus? If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.”
33Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”
34Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
New International Version
29Now if there is no resurrection, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized for them?
30And as for us, why do we endanger ourselves every hour?
31I face death every day--yes, just as surely as I boast about you in Christ Jesus our Lord.
New King James Version
29Otherwise, what will they do who are baptized for the dead, if the dead do not rise at all? Why then are they baptized for the dead?
30And why do we stand in jeopardy every hour?
31I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
32If, in the manner of men, I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantage is it to me? If the dead do not rise, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”
