Romans 3:25-26
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 3
25
whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith.
This was
to demonstrate His righteousness, because in God’s
merciful
restraint He let the sins previously committed go unpunished;
26
for the demonstration,
that is,
of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
King James Version
Chapter 3
25
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
26
To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 3
25
God presented him as an atoning sacrifice in his blood, received through faith, to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his restraint God passed over the sins previously committed.
26
God presented him to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so that he would be righteous and declare righteous the one who has faith in Jesus.
New Living Translation
Chapter 3
25
For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past,
26
for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he makes sinners right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.
English Standard Version
Chapter 3
25
whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God 's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.
26
It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
New International Version
Chapter 3
25
God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—
26
he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
New King James Version
Chapter 3
25
whom God set forth
as
a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,
26
to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
