A person’s pride will bring him low,
But a humble spirit will obtain honor.

One who is a partner with a thief hates his own life;
He hears the oath but tells nothing.

A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth

To be a thief's partner is to hate oneself; he hears the curse but will not testify.
