Matthew 22:21-24
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 22
21
They *said to Him, 'Caesar’s.' Then He *said to them, 'Then pay to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s; and to God the things that are God’s.'
22
And hearing
this,
they were amazed; and they left Him and went away.
23
On that day
some
Sadducees (who say there is no resurrection) came to Jesus and questioned Him,
24
saying, 'Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies having no children, his brother as next of kin shall marry his wife, and raise up children for his brother.’
King James Version
Chapter 22
21
They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.
22
When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.
23
The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,
24
Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 22
21
"Caesar’s," they said to him. Then he said to them, "Give, then, to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s."
22
When they heard this, they were amazed. So they left him and went away.
23
That same day some Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came up to him and questioned him:
24
"Teacher, Moses said,
if a man dies, having no children, his brother is to marry his wife and raise up offspring for his brother.
New Living Translation
Chapter 22
21
Caesar’s,' they replied. 'Well, then,' he said, 'give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give to God what belongs to God.'
22
His reply amazed them, and they went away.
23
That same day Jesus was approached by some Sadducees — religious leaders who say there is no resurrection from the dead. They posed this question:
24
Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies without children, his brother should marry the widow and have a child who will carry on the brother’s name.’
English Standard Version
Chapter 22
21
They said, "Caesar 's." Then he said to them, "Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar 's, and to God the things that are God 's."
22
When they heard it, they marveled. And they left him and went away.
23
The same day Sadducees came to him, who say that there is no resurrection, and they asked him a question,
24
saying, "Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies having no children, his brother must marry the widow and raise up offspring for his brother.’
New International Version
Chapter 22
21

22
When they heard this, they were amazed. So they left him and went away.
23
That same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him with a question.
24
"Teacher," they said, "Moses told us that if a man dies without having children, his brother must marry the widow and raise up offspring for him.
