Chapter 22
15Then the Pharisees went and plotted together how they might trap Him in what He said. 16And they *sent their disciples to Him, along with the Herodians, saying, 'Teacher, we know that You are truthful and teach the way of God in truth, and do not care what anyone thinks; for You are not partial to anyone. 17Tell us then, what do You think? Is it permissible to pay a poll-tax to Caesar, or not?' 18But Jesus perceived their malice, and said, 'Why are you testing Me, you hypocrites? 19Show Me the coin used for the poll-tax.' And they brought Him a denarius. 20And He *said to them, 'Whose image and inscription is this?' 21They *said to Him, 'Caesar’s.' Then He *said to them, 'Then pay to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s; and to God the things that are God’s.' 22And hearing this, they were amazed; and they left Him and went away.
23On that day some Sadducees (who say there is no resurrection) came to Jesus and questioned Him,
24saying, 'Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies having no children, his brother as next of kin shall marry his wife, and raise up children for his brother.’
25Now there were seven brothers among us; and the first married and died, and having no children, he left his wife to his brother.
26It was the same also with the second brother, and the third, down to the seventh.
27Last of all, the woman died.
28In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had her in marriage.'

15Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk. 16And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men. 17Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not? 18But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites 19Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny. 20And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription 21They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.
23The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,
24Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
25Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:
26Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.
27And last of all the woman died also.
28Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.

"Teacher," they said, "we know that you are truthful and teach truthfully the way of God. You don’t care what anyone thinks nor do you show partiality. 17Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not?"
18Perceiving their malicious intent, Jesus said, "Why are you testing me, hypocrites?
19Show me the coin used for the tax." They brought him a denarius.
20"Whose image and inscription is this?" he asked them.
21"Caesar’s," they said to him. Then he said to them, "Give, then, to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s."
22When they heard this, they were amazed. So they left him and went away.
23That same day some Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came up to him and questioned him:
24"Teacher, Moses said, if a man dies, having no children, his brother is to marry his wife and raise up offspring for his brother.

15Then the Pharisees met together to plot how to trap Jesus into saying something for which he could be arrested. 16They sent some of their disciples, along with the supporters of Herod, to meet with him. 'Teacher,' they said, 'we know how honest you are. You teach the way of God truthfully. You are impartial and don’t play favorites. 17Now tell us what you think about this: Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?'
18But Jesus knew their evil motives. 'You hypocrites!' he said. 'Why are you trying to trap me?
19Here, show me the coin used for the tax.' When they handed him a Roman coin,
20he asked, 'Whose picture and title are stamped on it?'
23That same day Jesus was approached by some Sadducees — religious leaders who say there is no resurrection from the dead. They posed this question:
24Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies without children, his brother should marry the widow and have a child who will carry on the brother’s name.’
25Well, suppose there were seven brothers. The oldest one married and then died without children, so his brother married the widow.
26But the second brother also died, and the third brother married her. This continued with all seven of them.
27Last of all, the woman also died.
28So tell us, whose wife will she be in the resurrection? For all seven were married to her.'

And they brought him a denarius. 20And Jesus said to them, "Whose likeness and inscription is this?" 21They said, "Caesar 's." Then he said to them, "Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar 's, and to God the things that are God 's." 22When they heard it, they marveled. And they left him and went away.

"Teacher," they said, "we know that you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You aren’t swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are. 17Tell us then, what is your opinion? Is it right to pay the imperial tax to Caesar or not?"
18But Jesus, knowing their evil intent, said, "You hypocrites, why are you trying to trap me?
19Show me the coin used for paying the tax." They brought him a denarius,
20and he asked them, "Whose image is this? And whose inscription?"
23That same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him with a question.
24"Teacher," they said, "Moses told us that if a man dies without having children, his brother must marry the widow and raise up offspring for him.
25Now there were seven brothers among us. The first one married and died, and since he had no children, he left his wife to his brother.
