Chapter 20
12Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day. 13But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny? 14Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee. 15Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?Christian Standard Bible
New Living Translation
13He answered one of them, ‘Friend, I haven’t been unfair! Didn’t you agree to work all day for the usual wage?
14Take your money and go. I wanted to pay this last worker the same as you.
15Is it against the law for me to do what I want with my money? Should you be jealous because I am kind to others?’
