Matthew 19:14-17
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 19
14
But Jesus said, 'Leave the children alone, and do not forbid them to come to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.'
15
After laying His hands on them, He departed from there.
16
And someone came to Him and said, 'Teacher, what good thing shall I do so that I may obtain eternal life?'
17
And He said to him, 'Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is
only
One who is good; but if you want to enter life, keep the commandments.'
King James Version
Chapter 19
14
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
15
And he laid
his
hands on them, and departed thence.
16
And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
17
And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good?
there is
none good but one,
that is
, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
Christian Standard Bible

15
After placing his hands on them, he went on from there.
16
Just then someone came up and asked him, "Teacher, what good must I do to have eternal life? "
17
"Why do you ask me about what is good? " he said to him. "There is only one who is good. If you want to enter into life, keep the commandments."
New Living Translation
Chapter 19
14
But Jesus said, 'Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.'
15
And he placed his hands on their heads and blessed them before he left.
16
Someone came to Jesus with this question: 'Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?'
17
Why ask me about what is good?' Jesus replied. 'There is only One who is good. But to answer your question — if you want to receive eternal life, keep the commandments.'
English Standard Version
