Chapter 7

13 thereby invalidating the word of God by your tradition which you have handed down; and you do many things such as that.'
14 After He called the crowd to Him again, He began saying to them, 'Listen to Me, all of you, and understand: 15 there is nothing outside the person which can defile him if it goes into him; but the things which come out of the person are what defile the person.' 16
17 And when He later entered a house, away from the crowd, His disciples asked Him about the parable.

13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye. 14 And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand: 15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man. 16 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. 17 And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.

14 Summoning the crowd again, he told them, "Listen to me, all of you, and understand: 15 Nothing that goes into a person from outside can defile him but the things that come out of a person are what defile him." 16
17 When he went into the house away from the crowd, his disciples asked him about the parable.

13 And so you cancel the word of God in order to hand down your own tradition. And this is only one example among many others.'
14 Then Jesus called to the crowd to come and hear. 'All of you listen,' he said, 'and try to understand. 15 It's not what goes into your body that defiles you; you are defiled by what comes from your heart.' 16
17 Then Jesus went into a house to get away from the crowd, and his disciples asked him what he meant by the parable he had just used.
