Chapter 6
3Is this not the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are His sisters not here with us?' And they took offense at Him. 4Jesus said to them, 'A prophet is not dishonored except in his hometown and among his own relatives, and in his own household.' 5And He could not do any miracle there except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.
7And He *summoned the twelve and began to send them out in pairs, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits;
8and He instructed them that they were to take nothing for their journey, except a mere staff—no bread, no bag, no money in their belt—
9but to wear sandals; and He added, 'Do not wear two tunics.'
10And He said to them, 'Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave town.

And they were offended at him. 4But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. 5And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. 6And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
7And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;
8And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:
9But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.
10And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place.

8He told them to take nothing for their journey except a walking stick — no food, no traveler’s bag, no money.
9He allowed them to wear sandals but not to take a change of clothes.
