Chapter 6

11Any place that does not receive you or listen to you, as you go out from there, shake the dust off the soles of your feet as a testimony against them.' 12And they went out and preached that people are to repent. 13And they were casting out many demons and were anointing with oil many sick people and healing them.
14And King Herod heard about it, for His name had become well known; and people were saying, 'John the Baptist has risen from the dead, and that is why these miraculous powers are at work in Him.' 15But others were saying, 'He is Elijah.' And others were saying, 'He is a prophet, like one of the prophets of old.' 16But when Herod heard about it, he kept saying, 'John, whom I beheaded, has risen!'
17For Herod himself had sent men and had John arrested and bound in prison on account of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip, because he had married her. 18For John had been saying to Herod, 'It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.'

11And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city. 12And they went out, and preached that men should repent. 13And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.
14And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him. 15Others said, That it is Elias. And others said, That it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets.
16But when Herod heard thereof, he said, It is John, whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead. 17For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife: for he had married her. 18For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife.

14King Herod heard about it, because Jesus’s name had become well known. Some said, "John the Baptist has been raised from the dead, and that’s why miraculous powers are at work in him." 15But others said, "He’s Elijah." Still others said, "He’s a prophet, like one of the prophets from long ago."
16When Herod heard of it, he said, "John, the one I beheaded, has been raised!"
17For Herod himself had given orders to arrest John and to chain him in prison on account of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, because he had married her. 18John had been telling Herod, "It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife."

11But if any place refuses to welcome you or listen to you, shake its dust from your feet as you leave to show that you have abandoned those people to their fate.'
12So the disciples went out, telling everyone they met to repent of their sins and turn to God. 13And they cast out many demons and healed many sick people, anointing them with olive oil.
14Herod Antipas, the king, soon heard about Jesus, because everyone was talking about him. Some were saying, 'This must be John the Baptist raised from the dead. That is why he can do such miracles.' 15Others said, 'He’s the prophet Elijah.' Still others said, 'He’s a prophet like the other great prophets of the past.'
16When Herod heard about Jesus, he said, 'John, the man I beheaded, has come back from the dead.'
17For Herod had sent soldiers to arrest and imprison John as a favor to Herodias. She had been his brother Philip’s wife, but Herod had married her. 18John had been telling Herod, 'It is against God’s law for you to marry your brother’s wife.'
