Chapter 15

7Then Samson said to them, 'If this is how you act, I will certainly take revenge on you, and only after that will I stop.' 8So he struck them ruthlessly with a great slaughter; and afterward he went down and lived in the cleft of the rock of Etam.
9Then the Philistines went up and camped in Judah, and spread out in Lehi. 10So the men of Judah said, 'Why have you come up against us?' And they said, 'We have come up to bind Samson in order to do to him as he did to us.' 11Then three thousand men of Judah went down to the cleft of the rock of Etam and said to Samson, 'Do you not know that the Philistines are rulers over us? What then is this that you have done to us?' And he said to them, 'Just as they did to me, so I have done to them.' 12Then they said to him, 'We have come down to bind you so that we may hand you over to the Philistines.' And Samson said to them, 'Swear to me that you will not kill me.' 13So they said to him, 'No, but we will bind you tightly and give you into their hands; but we certainly will not kill you.' Then they bound him with two new ropes, and brought him up from the rock.
14When he came to Lehi, the Philistines shouted as they met him. And the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon him so that the ropes that were on his arms were like flax that has burned with fire, and his restraints dropped from his hands.

7And Samson said unto them, Though ye have done this, yet will I be avenged of you, and after that I will cease. 8And he smote them hip and thigh with a great slaughter: and he went down and dwelt in the top of the rock Etam.
9Then the Philistines went up, and pitched in Judah, and spread themselves in Lehi. 10And the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up against us? And they answered, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he hath done to us. 11Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines are rulers over us? what is this that thou hast done unto us? And he said unto them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them. 12And they said unto him, We are come down to bind thee, that we may deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said unto them, Swear unto me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves. 13And they spake unto him, saying, No; but we will bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand: but surely we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the rock. 14And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.

Chapter 15

7Then Samson told them, "Because you did this, I swear that I won’t rest until I have taken vengeance on you." 8He tore them limb from limb and then went down and stayed in the cave at the rock of Etam.
9The Philistines went up, camped in Judah, and raided Lehi.
10So the men of Judah said, "Why have you attacked us?" They replied, "We have come to tie Samson up and pay him back for what he did to us."
11Then three thousand men of Judah went to the cave at the rock of Etam, and they asked Samson, "Don’t you realize that the Philistines rule us? What have you done to us?" "I have done to them what they did to me," he answered.
12They said to him, "We’ve come to tie you up and hand you over to the Philistines." Then Samson told them, "Swear to me that you yourselves won’t kill me."
13"No," they said, "we won’t kill you, but we will tie you up securely and hand you over to them." So they tied him up with two new ropes and led him away from the rock.
14When he came to Lehi, the Philistines came to meet him shouting. The Spirit of the Lord came powerfully on him, and the ropes that were on his arms and wrists became like burnt flax and fell off.

Chapter 15

7Because you did this,' Samson vowed, 'I won’t rest until I take my revenge on you!' 8So he attacked the Philistines with great fury and killed many of them. Then he went to live in a cave in the rock of Etam.
9The Philistines retaliated by setting up camp in Judah and spreading out near the town of Lehi.
10The men of Judah asked the Philistines, 'Why are you attacking us?' The Philistines replied, 'We’ve come to capture Samson. We’ve come to pay him back for what he did to us.'
11So 3,000 men of Judah went down to get Samson at the cave in the rock of Etam. They said to Samson, 'Don’t you realize the Philistines rule over us? What are you doing to us?' But Samson replied, 'I only did to them what they did to me.'
12But the men of Judah told him, 'We have come to tie you up and hand you over to the Philistines.' 'All right,' Samson said. 'But promise that you won’t kill me yourselves.'
13We will only tie you up and hand you over to the Philistines,' they replied. 'We won’t kill you.' So they tied him up with two new ropes and brought him up from the rock.
14As Samson arrived at Lehi, the Philistines came shouting in triumph. But the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon Samson, and he snapped the ropes on his arms as if they were burnt strands of flax, and they fell from his wrists.

7Samson said to them, "Since you’ve acted like this, I swear that I won’t stop until I get my revenge on you." 8He attacked them viciously and slaughtered many of them. Then he went down and stayed in a cave in the rock of Etam.
9The Philistines went up and camped in Judah, spreading out near Lehi.
10The people of Judah asked, "Why have you come to fight us?" "We have come to take Samson prisoner," they answered, "to do to him as he did to us."
11Then three thousand men from Judah went down to the cave in the rock of Etam and said to Samson, "Don’t you realize that the Philistines are rulers over us? What have you done to us?" He answered, "I merely did to them what they did to me."
12They said to him, "We’ve come to tie you up and hand you over to the Philistines." Samson said, "Swear to me that you won’t kill me yourselves."
13"Agreed," they answered. "We will only tie you up and hand you over to them. We will not kill you." So they bound him with two new ropes and led him up from the rock. 14As he approached Lehi, the Philistines came toward him shouting. The Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him. The ropes on his arms became like charred flax, and the bindings dropped from his hands.

13So they spoke to him, saying, “No, but we will tie you securely and deliver you into their hand; but we will surely not kill you.” And they bound him with two new ropes and brought him up from the rock.
14When he came to Lehi, the Philistines came shouting against him. Then the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him; and the ropes that were on his arms became like flax that is burned with fire, and his bonds broke loose from his hands.
