Chapter 5
10He gives rain on the earth, And sends water on the fields, 11So that He sets on high those who are lowly, And those who mourn are lifted to safety. 12He frustrates the schemes of the shrewd, So that their hands cannot attain success. 13He captures the wise by their own cleverness, And the advice of the cunning is quickly thwarted. 14By day they meet with darkness, And grope at noon as in the night. 15But He saves from the sword of their mouth, And the poor from the hand of the strong. 16So the helpless has hope, And injustice has shut its mouth. 17'Behold, happy is the person whom God disciplines, So do not reject the discipline of the Almighty. 18For He inflicts pain, and gives relief; He wounds, but His hands also heal. 19In six troubles He will save you; Even in seven, evil will not touch you. 20In famine He will redeem you from death, And in war, from the power of the sword. 21You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, And you will not be afraid of violence when it comes. 22You will laugh at violence and hunger, And you will not be afraid of wild animals. 23For you will be in league with the stones of the field, And the animals of the field will be at peace with you. 24You will know that your tent is secure, For you will visit your home and have nothing missing. 25You will also know that your descendants will be many, And your offspring as the grass of the earth. 26You will come to the grave at a ripe age, Like the stacking of grain in its season.King James Version

10Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields: 11To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety. 12He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise. 13He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong. 14They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope in the noonday as in the night. 15But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty. 16So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.
17Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:
18For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.
19He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.
20In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.
21Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.
22At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.
23For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.
24And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.
25Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.
26Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.

10He gives rain to the earth and sends water to the fields. 11He sets the lowly on high, and mourners are lifted to safety. 12He frustrates the schemes of the crafty so that they achieve no success. 13He traps the wise in their craftiness so that the plans of the deceptive are quickly brought to an end. 14They encounter darkness by day, and they grope at noon as if it were night. 15He saves the needy from their sharp words and from the clutches of the powerful. 16So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts its mouth. 17See how happy is the person whom God corrects; so do not reject the discipline of the Almighty. 18For he wounds but he also bandages; he strikes, but his hands also heal. 19He will rescue you from six calamities; no harm will touch you in seven. 20In famine he will redeem you from death, and in battle, from the power of the sword. 21You will be safe from slander and not fear destruction when it comes. 22You will laugh at destruction and hunger and not fear the land's wild creatures. 23For you will have a covenant with the stones of the field, and the wild animals will be at peace with you. 24You will know that your tent is secure, and nothing will be missing when you inspect your home. 25You will also know that your offspring will be many and your descendants like the grass of the earth.New Living Translation

10He gives rain for the earth and water for the fields. 11He gives prosperity to the poor and protects those who suffer. 12He frustrates the plans of schemers so the work of their hands will not succeed. 13He traps the wise in their own cleverness so their cunning schemes are thwarted. 14They find it is dark in the daytime, and they grope at noon as if it were night. 15He rescues the poor from the cutting words of the strong, and rescues them from the clutches of the powerful. 16And so at last the poor have hope, and the snapping jaws of the wicked are shut.
17'But consider the joy of those corrected by God! Do not despise the discipline of the Almighty when you sin.
18For though he wounds, he also bandages. He strikes, but his hands also heal.
19From six disasters he will rescue you; even in the seventh, he will keep you from evil.
20He will save you from death in time of famine, from the power of the sword in time of war.
21You will be safe from slander and have no fear when destruction comes.
22You will laugh at destruction and famine; wild animals will not terrify you.
23You will be at peace with the stones of the field, and its wild animals will be at peace with you.
24You will know that your home is safe. When you survey your possessions, nothing will be missing.
25You will have many children; your descendants will be as plentiful as grass!
26You will go to the grave at a ripe old age, like a sheaf of grain harvested at the proper time!
