Job chapter 25
English Standard Version
2“Dominion and fear are with God; he makes peace in his high heaven. 3Is there any number to his armies? Upon whom does his light not arise? 4How then can man be in the right before God? How can he who is born of woman be pure? 5Behold, even the moon is not bright, and the stars are not pure in his eyes; 6how much less man, who is a maggot, and the son of man, who is a worm!”
New International Version
2Dominion and awe belong to God; he establishes order in the heights of heaven. 3Can his forces be numbered? On whom does his light not rise? 4How then can a mortal be righteous before God? How can one born of woman be pure? 5If even the moon is not bright and the stars are not pure in his eyes, 6how much less a mortal, who is but a maggot-- a human being, who is only a worm!'
New American Standard Bible
2'Dominion and awe belong to Him Who makes peace in His heights. 3Is there any number to His troops? And upon whom does His light not rise? 4How then can mankind be righteous with God? Or how can anyone who is born of woman be pure? 5If even the moon has no brightness And the stars are not pure in His sight, 6How much less man, that maggot, And a son of man, that worm!'
Christian Standard Bible
2Dominion and dread belong to him, the one who establishes harmony in his heights. 3Can his troops be numbered? Does his light not shine on everyone? 4How can a human be justified before God? How can one born of woman be pure? 5If even the moon does not shine and the stars are not pure in his sight, 6how much less a human, who is a maggot, a son of man, who is a worm!
New Living Translation
2'God is powerful and dreadful. He enforces peace in the heavens. 3Who is able to count his heavenly army? Doesn't his light shine on all the earth? 4How can a mortal be innocent before God? Can anyone born of a woman be pure? 5God is more glorious than the moon; he shines brighter than the stars. 6In comparison, people are maggots; we mortals are mere worms.'
King James Version
1Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said, 2Dominion and fear are with him, he maketh peace in his high places. 3Is there any number of his armies? and upon whom doth not his light arise? 4How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman? 5Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight. 6How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm?
