Something
was standing still, but I could not recognize its appearance;
A form

before my eyes;
There was
silence, then I heard a voice:
17
‘Can mankind be righteous before God?
Can a man be pure before his Maker?
King James Version

silence, and I heard a voice,
saying
,
17
Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker?
Christian Standard Bible

The spirit stopped, but I couldn’t see its shape.
There was a form before my eyes.
In the silence I heard a voice say,

Can anyone be pure before the Creator?’
English Standard Version
