Chapter 42
3Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not. 4Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me. 5I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. 6Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 42
3You asked, "Who is this who conceals my counsel with ignorance? " Surely I spoke about things I did not understand, things too wondrous for me to know. 4You said, "Listen now, and I will speak. When I question you, you will inform me." 5I had heard reports about you, but now my eyes have seen you. 6Therefore, I reject my words and am sorry for them; I am dust and ashes.New Living Translation
Chapter 42
3You asked, ‘Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorance?’ It is I — and I was talking about things I knew nothing about, things far too wonderful for me. 4You said, ‘Listen and I will speak! I have some questions for you, and you must answer them.’ 5I had only heard about you before, but now I have seen you with my own eyes. 6I take back everything I said, and I sit in dust and ashes to show my repentance.'English Standard Version
