Job 40:5-23
New American Standard Bible
7'Now tighten the belt on your waist like a man; I will ask you, and you instruct Me.
8Will you really nullify My judgment? Will you condemn Me so that you may be justified?
9Or do you have an arm like God, And can you thunder with a voice like His?
10'Adorn yourself with pride and dignity, And clothe yourself with honor and majesty.
11Let out your outbursts of anger, And look at everyone who is arrogant, and humble him.
12Look at everyone who is arrogant, and humble him, And trample down the wicked where they stand.
13Hide them together in the dust; Imprison them in the hidden place.
14Then I will also confess to you, That your own right hand can save you.
15'Behold, Behemoth, which I made as well as you; He eats grass like an ox.
16Behold, his strength in his waist, And his power in the muscles of his belly.
17He hangs his tail like a cedar; The tendons of his thighs are knit together.
18His bones are tubes of bronze; His limbs are like bars of iron.
19'He is the first of the ways of God; Let his Maker bring His sword near.
20Indeed the mountains bring him food, And all the animals of the field play there.
21He lies down under the lotus plants, In the hiding place of the reeds and the marsh.
22The lotus plants cover him with shade; The willows of the brook surround him.
23If a river rages, he is not alarmed; He is confident, though the Jordan rushes to his mouth.
King James Version
6Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
7Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
8Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?
9Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?
10Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.
11Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.
12Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.
13Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.
14Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.
15Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.
16Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.
17He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.
18His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.
19He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.
20Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.
21He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.
22The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.
23Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
Christian Standard Bible
7Get ready to answer me like a man; When I question you, you will inform me.
8Would you really challenge my justice? Would you declare me guilty to justify yourself?
9Do you have an arm like God's? Can you thunder with a voice like his?
10Adorn yourself with majesty and splendor, and clothe yourself with honor and glory.
11Pour out your raging anger; look on every proud person and humiliate him.
12Look on every proud person and humble him; trample the wicked where they stand.
13Hide them together in the dust; imprison them in the grave.
14Then I will confess to you that your own right hand can deliver you.
15Look at Behemoth, which I made along with you. He eats grass like cattle.
16Look at the strength of his back and the power in the muscles of his belly.
17He stiffens his tail like a cedar tree; the tendons of his thighs are woven firmly together.
18His bones are bronze tubes; his limbs are like iron rods.
19He is the foremost of God's works; only his Maker can draw the sword against him.
20The hills yield food for him, while all sorts of wild animals play there.
21He lies under the lotus plants, hiding in the protection of marshy reeds.
22Lotus plants cover him with their shade; the willows by the brook surround him.
23Though the river rages, Behemoth is unafraid; he remains confident, even if the Jordan surges up to his mouth.
New Living Translation
8'Will you discredit my justice and condemn me just to prove you are right?
9Are you as strong as God? Can you thunder with a voice like his?
10All right, put on your glory and splendor, your honor and majesty.
11Give vent to your anger. Let it overflow against the proud.
12Humiliate the proud with a glance; walk on the wicked where they stand.
13Bury them in the dust. Imprison them in the world of the dead.
14Then even I would praise you, for your own strength would save you.
15'Take a look at Behemoth, which I made, just as I made you. It eats grass like an ox.
16See its powerful loins and the muscles of its belly.
17Its tail is as strong as a cedar. The sinews of its thighs are knit tightly together.
18Its bones are tubes of bronze. Its limbs are bars of iron.
19It is a prime example of God’s handiwork, and only its Creator can threaten it.
20The mountains offer it their best food, where all the wild animals play.
21It lies under the lotus plants, hidden by the reeds in the marsh.
22The lotus plants give it shade among the willows beside the stream.
23It is not disturbed by the raging river, not concerned when the swelling Jordan rushes around it.

Chapter 40
5I have spoken once, and I will not answer; twice, but I will proceed no further.” 6Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said:
7“Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me.
8Will you even put me in the wrong? Will you condemn me that you may be in the right?
9Have you an arm like God, and can you thunder with a voice like his?
10“Adorn yourself with majesty and dignity; clothe yourself with glory and splendor.
11Pour out the overflowings of your anger, and look on everyone who is proud and abase him.
12Look on everyone who is proud and bring him low and tread down the wicked where they stand.
13Hide them all in the dust together; bind their faces in the world below.
14Then will I also acknowledge to you that your own right hand can save you.
15“Behold, Behemoth, which I made as I made you; he eats grass like an ox.
16Behold, his strength in his loins, and his power in the muscles of his belly.
17He makes his tail stiff like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together.
18His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like bars of iron.
19“He is the first of the works of God; let him who made him bring near his sword!
20For the mountains yield food for him where all the wild beasts play.
21Under the lotus plants he lies, in the shelter of the reeds and in the marsh.
22For his shade the lotus trees cover him; the willows of the brook surround him.
23Behold, if the river is turbulent he is not frightened; he is confident though Jordan rushes against his mouth.
New International Version
7Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me.
8Would you discredit my justice? Would you condemn me to justify yourself?
9Do you have an arm like God's, and can your voice thunder like his?
10Then adorn yourself with glory and splendor, and clothe yourself in honor and majesty.
11Unleash the fury of your wrath, look at all who are proud and bring them low,
12look at all who are proud and humble them, crush the wicked where they stand.
13Bury them all in the dust together; shroud their faces in the grave.
14Then I myself will admit to you that your own right hand can save you.
15Look at Behemoth, which I made along with you and which feeds on grass like an ox.
16What strength it has in its loins, what power in the muscles of its belly!
17Its tail sways like a cedar; the sinews of its thighs are close-knit.
18Its bones are tubes of bronze, its limbs like rods of iron.
19It ranks first among the works of God, yet its Maker can approach it with his sword.
20The hills bring it their produce, and all the wild animals play nearby.
21Under the lotus plants it lies, hidden among the reeds in the marsh.
22The lotuses conceal it in their shadow; the poplars by the stream surround it.
23A raging river does not alarm it; it is secure, though the Jordan should surge against its mouth.

13Hide them in the dust together, Bind their faces in hidden darkness.
14Then I will also confess to you That your own right hand can save you.
