Chapter 40

2'Will the faultfinder contend with the Almighty? Let him who rebukes God give an answer.'
3Then Job answered the Lord and said,
4'Behold, I am insignificant; what can I say in response to You? I put my hand on my mouth. 5I have spoken once, and I will not reply; Or twice, and I will add nothing more.'
6Then the Lord answered Job from the whirlwind and said,
7'Now tighten the belt on your waist like a man; I will ask you, and you instruct Me. 8Will you really nullify My judgment? Will you condemn Me so that you may be justified? 9Or do you have an arm like God, And can you thunder with a voice like His? 10'Adorn yourself with pride and dignity, And clothe yourself with honor and majesty. 11Let out your outbursts of anger, And look at everyone who is arrogant, and humble him.

2Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.
3Then Job answered the Lord, and said,
4Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.
5Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further. 6Then answered the Lord unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said, 7Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
8Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?
9Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?
10Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.
11Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.

4I am so insignificant. How can I answer you? I place my hand over my mouth. 5I have spoken once, and I will not reply; twice, but now I can add nothing.
6Then the Lord answered Job from the whirlwind:
7Get ready to answer me like a man; When I question you, you will inform me. 8Would you really challenge my justice? Would you declare me guilty to justify yourself?
9Do you have an arm like God’s? Can you thunder with a voice like his? 10Adorn yourself with majesty and splendor, and clothe yourself with honor and glory. 11Pour out your raging anger; look on every proud person and humiliate him.

Chapter 40

2'Do you still want to argue with the Almighty? You are God’s critic, but do you have the answers?'
3Then Job replied to the Lord,
4'I am nothing — how could I ever find the answers? I will cover my mouth with my hand. 5I have said too much already. I have nothing more to say.'
6Then the Lord answered Job from the whirlwind:
7'Brace yourself like a man, because I have some questions for you, and you must answer them.
8'Will you discredit my justice and condemn me just to prove you are right? 9Are you as strong as God? Can you thunder with a voice like his? 10All right, put on your glory and splendor, your honor and majesty. 11Give vent to your anger. Let it overflow against the proud.

4"Behold, I am of small account; what shall I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth. 5I have spoken once, and I will not answer; twice, but I will proceed no further." 6Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said:
7 "Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me. 8Will you even put me in the wrong? Will you condemn me that you may be in the right? 9Have you an arm like God, and can you thunder with a voice like his? 10"Adorn yourself with majesty and dignity; clothe yourself with glory and splendor. 11Pour out the overflowings of your anger, and look on everyone who is proud and abase him.

7"Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me. 8"Would you discredit my justice? Would you condemn me to justify yourself? 9Do you have an arm like God’s, and can your voice thunder like his? 10Then adorn yourself with glory and splendor, and clothe yourself in honor and majesty. 11Unleash the fury of your wrath, look at all who are proud and bring them low,

Or can you thunder with a voice like His? 10 Then adorn yourself with majesty and splendor, And array yourself with glory and beauty. 11Disperse the rage of your wrath; Look on everyone who is proud, and humble him.
