Job 30:25-29
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 30
25
Have I not wept for the one whose life is hard?
Was my soul not grieved for the needy?
26
When I expected good, evil came;
When I waited for light, darkness came.
27
I am seething within and cannot rest;
Days of misery confront me.
28
I go about mourning without comfort;
I stand up in the assembly
and
cry out for help.
29
I have become a brother to jackals,
And a companion of ostriches.
King James Version
Chapter 30
25
Did not I weep for him that was in trouble? was not my soul grieved for the poor?
26
When I looked for good, then evil came unto me: and when I waited for light, there came darkness.
27
My bowels boiled, and rested not: the days of affliction prevented me.
28
I went mourning without the sun: I stood up, and I cried in the congregation.
29
I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 30
25
Have I not wept for those who have fallen on hard times?
Has my soul not grieved for the needy?
26
But when I hoped for good, evil came;
when I looked for light, darkness came.
27
I am churning within and cannot rest;
days of suffering confront me.
28
I walk about blackened, but not by the sun.
I stood in the assembly and cried out for help.
29
I have become a brother to jackals
and a companion of ostriches.
New Living Translation
Chapter 30
25
Did I not weep for those in trouble?
Was I not deeply grieved for the needy?
26
So I looked for good, but evil came instead.
I waited for the light, but darkness fell.
27
My heart is troubled and restless.
Days of suffering torment me.
28
I walk in gloom, without sunlight.
I stand in the public square and cry for help.
29
Instead, I am considered a brother to jackals
and a companion to owls.
English Standard Version
Chapter 30
25
Did not I weep for him whose day was hard?
Was not my soul grieved for the needy?
26
But when I hoped for good, evil came,
and when I waited for light, darkness came.
27
My inward parts are in turmoil and never still;
days of affliction come to meet me.
28
I go about darkened, but not by the sun;
I stand up in the assembly and cry for help.
29
I am a brother of jackals
and a companion of ostriches.
New International Version
Chapter 30
25
Have I not wept for those in trouble?
Has not my soul grieved for the poor?
26
Yet when I hoped for good, evil came;
when I looked for light, then came darkness.
27
The churning inside me never stops;
days of suffering confront me.
28
I go about blackened, but not by the sun;
I stand up in the assembly and cry for help.
29
I have become a brother of jackals,
a companion of owls.
New King James Version
Chapter 30
25
Have I not wept for him who was in trouble?
Has
not
my soul grieved for the poor?
26
But when I looked for good, evil came
to me;
And when I waited for light, then came darkness.
27
My heart is in turmoil and cannot rest;
Days of affliction confront me.
28
I go about mourning, but not in the sun;
I stand up in the assembly
and
cry out for help.
29
I am a brother of jackals,
And a companion of ostriches.
