Chapter 48
39They shall howl, saying, How is it broken down! how hath Moab turned the back with shame! so shall Moab be a derision and a dismaying to all them about him. 40For thus saith the LORD; Behold, he shall fly as an eagle, and shall spread his wings over Moab. 41Kerioth is taken, and the strong holds are surprised, and the mighty men's hearts in Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs. 42And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he hath magnified himself against the LORD.Christian Standard Bible
40For this is what the Lord says: Look! He will swoop down like an eagle and spread his wings against Moab.
41The towns have been captured, and the strongholds seized. In that day the heart of Moab's warriors will be like the heart of a woman with contractions.
42Moab will be destroyed as a people because he has exalted himself against the Lord.
New Living Translation
40This is what the Lord says: 'Look! The enemy swoops down like an eagle, spreading his wings over Moab.
41Its cities will fall, and its strongholds will be seized. Even the mightiest warriors will be in anguish like a woman in labor.
42Moab will no longer be a nation, for it has boasted against the Lord.

40For thus says the LORD: “Behold, one shall fly swiftly like an eagle and spread his wings against Moab;
41the cities shall be taken and the strongholds seized. The heart of the warriors of Moab shall be in that day like the heart of a woman in her birth pains;
42Moab shall be destroyed and be no longer a people, because he magnified himself against the LORD.

40This is what the LORD says: 'Look! An eagle is swooping down, spreading its wings over Moab.
