Genesis 50:17-23
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 50
17
‘This is what you shall say to Joseph: 'Please forgive, I beg you, the offense of your brothers and their sin, for they did you wrong.'?’ And now, please forgive the offense of the servants of the God of your father.' And Joseph wept when they spoke to him.
18
Then his brothers also came and fell down before him and said, 'Behold, we are your servants.'
19
But Joseph said to them, 'Do not be afraid, for am I in God’s place?
20
As for you, you meant evil against me,
but
God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to keep many people alive.
21
So therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.' So he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.
22
Now Joseph stayed in Egypt, he and his father’s household, and Joseph lived 110 years.
23
Joseph saw the third generation of Ephraim’s sons; also the sons of Machir, the son of Manasseh, were born on Joseph’s knees.
King James Version
Chapter 50
17
So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.
18
And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants.
19
And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?
20
But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
21
Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.
22
And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father's house: and Joseph lived an hundred and ten years.
23
And Joseph saw Ephraim's children of the third generation: the children also of Machir the son of Manasseh were brought up upon Joseph's knees.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 50
17
‘Say this to Joseph: Please forgive your brothers’ transgression and their sin—the suffering they caused you.’ Therefore, please forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of your father." Joseph wept when their message came to him.
18
His brothers also came to him, bowed down before him, and said, "We are your slaves!"
19
But Joseph said to them, "Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God?
20
You planned evil against me; God planned it for good to bring about the present result—the survival of many people.
21
Therefore don’t be afraid. I will take care of you and your children." And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.
22
Joseph and his father’s family remained in Egypt. Joseph lived 110 years.
23
He saw Ephraim’s sons to the third generation; the sons of Manasseh’s son Machir were recognized by Joseph.
New Living Translation
Chapter 50
17
to say to you: ‘Please forgive your brothers for the great wrong they did to you — for their sin in treating you so cruelly.’ So we, the servants of the God of your father, beg you to forgive our sin.' When Joseph received the message, he broke down and wept.
18
Then his brothers came and threw themselves down before Joseph. 'Look, we are your slaves!' they said.
19
But Joseph replied, 'Don’t be afraid of me. Am I God, that I can punish you?
20
You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.
21
No, don’t be afraid. I will continue to take care of you and your children.' So he reassured them by speaking kindly to them.
22
So Joseph and his brothers and their families continued to live in Egypt. Joseph lived to the age of 110.
23
He lived to see three generations of descendants of his son Ephraim, and he lived to see the birth of the children of Manasseh’s son Makir, whom he claimed as his own.

Chapter 50
17
‘Say to Joseph, "Please forgive the transgression of your brothers and their sin, because they did evil to you."’ And now, please forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of your father." Joseph wept when they spoke to him.
18
His brothers also came and fell down before him and said, "Behold, we are your servants."
19
But Joseph said to them, "Do not fear, for am I in the place of God?

22
So Joseph remained in Egypt, he and his father 's house. Joseph lived 110 years.
