Genesis 32:20-23
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 32
20
and you shall say, ‘Behold, your servant Jacob also is behind us.’?' For he said, 'I will appease him with the gift that goes ahead of me. Then afterward I will see his face; perhaps he will accept me.'
21
So the gift passed on ahead of him, while he himself spent that night in the camp.
22
Now he got up that same night and took his two wives, his two female slaves, and his eleven children, and crossed the shallow place of the Jabbok.
23
He took them and sent them across the stream. And he sent across whatever he had.
King James Version
Chapter 32
20
And say ye moreover, Behold, thy servant Jacob is behind us. For he said, I will appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will accept of me.
21
So went the present over before him: and himself lodged that night in the company.
22
And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two womenservants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok.
23
And he took them, and sent them over the brook, and sent over that he had.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 32
20
You are also to say, ‘Look, your servant Jacob is right behind us.’" For he thought, "I want to appease Esau with the gift that is going ahead of me. After that, I can face him, and perhaps he will forgive me."
21
So the gift was sent on ahead of him while he remained in the camp that night.
22
During the night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two slave women, and his eleven sons, and crossed the ford of Jabbok.
23
He took them and sent them across the stream, along with all his possessions.
New Living Translation
Chapter 32
20
And be sure to say, ‘Look, your servant Jacob is right behind us.’' Jacob thought, 'I will try to appease him by sending gifts ahead of me. When I see him in person, perhaps he will be friendly to me.'
21
So the gifts were sent on ahead, while Jacob himself spent that night in the camp.
22
During the night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two servant wives, and his eleven sons and crossed the Jabbok River with them.
23
After taking them to the other side, he sent over all his possessions.

He took them and sent them across the stream, and everything else that he had.

22
That night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two female servants and his eleven sons and crossed the ford of the Jabbok.
