Genesis 1:1-11
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 1
1In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2And the earth was a formless and desolate emptiness, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. 3Then God said, 'Let there be light'; and there was light. 4God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. 5God called the light 'day,' and the darkness He called 'night.' And there was evening and there was morning, one day.
6Then God said, 'Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.'
7God made the expanse, and separated the waters that were below the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse; and it was so.
8God called the expanse 'heaven.' And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.
9Then God said, 'Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear'; and it was so.
10And God called the dry land 'earth,' and the gathering of the waters He called 'seas'; and God saw that it was good.
11Then God said, 'Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit according to their kind with seed in them'; and it was so.
King James Version
2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
6And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
7And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
8And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
Christian Standard Bible
2Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness covered the surface of the watery depths, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.
3Then God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.
4God saw that the light was good, and God separated the light from the darkness.
5God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." There was an evening, and there was a morning: one day.
6Then God said, "Let there be an expanse between the waters, separating water from water."
7So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above the expanse. And it was so.
8God called the expanse "sky." Evening came and then morning: the second day.
9Then God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear." And it was so.
10God called the dry land "earth," and the gathering of the water he called "seas." And God saw that it was good.
11Then God said, "Let the earth produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds." And it was so.

Chapter 1
1In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.
3Then God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light.
4And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness.
6Then God said, 'Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth.'
7And that is what happened. God made this space to separate the waters of the earth from the waters of the heavens.
9Then God said, 'Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may appear.' And that is what happened.
10God called the dry ground 'land' and the waters 'seas.' And God saw that it was good.
11Then God said, 'Let the land sprout with vegetation — every sort of seed-bearing plant, and trees that grow seed-bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.' And that is what happened.
