Galatians 5:14-17
New American Standard Bible
King James Version
Chapter 5
14For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 15But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. 16This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.Christian Standard Bible
New Living Translation
Chapter 5
14For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 15But if you are always biting and devouring one another, watch out! Beware of destroying one another.
16So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.
17The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
