Galatians 3:11-14
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 3
11
Now, that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, 'THE RIGHTEOUS ONE WILL LIVE BY FAITH.'
12
However, the Law is not of faith; on the contrary, 'THE PERSON WHO PERFORMS THEM WILL LIVE BY THEM.'
13
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written: 'CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE'—
14
in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham would come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
King James Version
Chapter 3
11
But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
12
And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
13
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 3
11
Now it is clear that no one is justified before God by the law, because
the righteous will live
by faith.
12
But the law is not based on faith; instead,
the one who does these things will live by them.
13
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, because it is written,
Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.
14
The purpose was that the blessing of Abraham would come to the Gentiles by Christ Jesus, so that we could receive the promised Spirit through faith.
New Living Translation
Chapter 3
11
So it is clear that no one can be made right with God by trying to keep the law. For the Scriptures say, 'It is through faith that a righteous person has life.'
12
This way of faith is very different from the way of law, which says, 'It is through obeying the law that a person has life.'
13
But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, 'Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.'
14
Through Christ Jesus, God has blessed the Gentiles with the same blessing he promised to Abraham, so that we who are believers might receive the promised Holy Spirit through faith.
English Standard Version
Chapter 3
11
Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for "The righteous shall live by faith."
12
But the law is not of faith, rather "The one who does them shall live by them."
13
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us — for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree" —
14
so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.
New International Version
Chapter 3
11
Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because "the righteous will live by faith."
12
The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, "The person who does these things will live by them."
13
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole."
14
He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
New King James Version
Chapter 3
11
But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God
is
evident, for “the just shall live by faith.”
12
Yet the law is not of faith, but “the man who does them shall live by them.”
13
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed
is
everyone who hangs on a tree”),
14
that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
