Ezekiel 36:12-20
New American Standard Bible
13The Lord God says this: ‘Since they say to you, 'You are a devourer of people and have bereaved your nation of children,'
14for that reason you will no longer devour people and no longer bereave your nation of children,’ declares the Lord God.
15I will not let you hear insults from the nations anymore, nor will you suffer disgrace from the peoples any longer, nor will you make your nation stumble any longer,' declares the Lord God.’?'
16Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
17Son of man, when the house of Israel was living on their own land, they defiled it by their ways and their deeds; their way before Me was like the uncleanness of a woman in her impurity.
18Therefore I poured out My wrath on them for the blood which they had shed on the land, because they had defiled it with their idols.
19I also scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed throughout the lands. According to their ways and their deeds I judged them.
20When they came to the nations where they went, they profaned My holy name, because it was said of them, ‘These are the people of the Lord, yet they have left His land.’
King James Version
Chapter 36
12Yea, I will cause men to walk upon you, even my people Israel; and they shall possess thee, and thou shalt be their inheritance, and thou shalt no more henceforth bereave them of men. 13Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because they say unto you, Thou land devourest up men, and hast bereaved thy nations; 14Therefore thou shalt devour men no more, neither bereave thy nations any more, saith the Lord GOD. 15Neither will I cause men to hear in thee the shame of the heathen any more, neither shalt thou bear the reproach of the people any more, neither shalt thou cause thy nations to fall any more, saith the Lord GOD.
16Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
17Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman.
18Wherefore I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and for their idols wherewith they had polluted it:
19And I scattered them among the heathen, and they were dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged them.
20And when they entered unto the heathen, whither they went, they profaned my holy name, when they said to them, These are the people of the LORD, and are gone forth out of his land.
Christian Standard Bible
13" 'This is what the Lord God says: Because some are saying to you, "You devour people and deprive your nation of children,"
14therefore, you will no longer devour people and deprive your nation of children. This is the declaration of the Lord God.
15I will no longer allow the insults of the nations to be heard against you, and you will not have to endure the reproach of the peoples anymore; you will no longer cause your nation to stumble. This is the declaration of the Lord God.' "
16The word of the Lord came to me:
17"Son of man, while the house of Israel lived in their land, they defiled it with their conduct and actions. Their behavior before me was like menstrual impurity.
18So I poured out my wrath on them because of the blood they had shed on the land, and because they had defiled it with their idols.
19I dispersed them among the nations, and they were scattered among the countries. I judged them according to their conduct and actions.
20When they came to the nations where they went, they profaned my holy name, because it was said about them, 'These are the people of the Lord, yet they had to leave his land in exile.'
New Living Translation
13This is what the Sovereign Lord says: The other nations taunt you, saying, ‘Israel is a land that devours its own people and robs them of their children!’
14But you will never again devour your people or rob them of their children, says the Sovereign Lord.
15I will not let you hear those other nations insult you, and you will no longer be mocked by them. You will not be a land that causes its nation to fall, says the Sovereign Lord.'
16Then this further message came to me from the Lord:
17Son of man, when the people of Israel were living in their own land, they defiled it by the evil way they lived. To me their conduct was as unclean as a woman’s menstrual cloth.
18They polluted the land with murder and the worship of idols, so I poured out my fury on them.
19I scattered them to many lands to punish them for the evil way they had lived.
20But when they were scattered among the nations, they brought shame on my holy name. For the nations said, ‘These are the people of the Lord, but he couldn’t keep them safe in his own land!’
English Standard Version
Chapter 36
12I will let people walk on you, even my people Israel. And they shall possess you, and you shall be their inheritance, and you shall no longer bereave them of children. 13Thus says the Lord GOD: Because they say to you, ‘You devour people, and you bereave your nation of children,’ 14therefore you shall no longer devour people and no longer bereave your nation of children, declares the Lord GOD. 15And I will not let you hear anymore the reproach of the nations, and you shall no longer bear the disgrace of the peoples and no longer cause your nation to stumble, declares the Lord GOD.”
16The word of the LORD came to me:
17“Son of man, when the house of Israel lived in their own land, they defiled it by their ways and their deeds. Their ways before me were like the uncleanness of a woman in her menstrual impurity.
18So I poured out my wrath upon them for the blood that they had shed in the land, for the idols with which they had defiled it.
19I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed through the countries. In accordance with their ways and their deeds I judged them.
20But when they came to the nations, wherever they came, they profaned my holy name, in that people said of them, ‘These are the people of the LORD, and yet they had to go out of his land.’
New International Version
13'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Because some say to you, 'You devour people and deprive your nation of its children,'
14therefore you will no longer devour people or make your nation childless, declares the Sovereign LORD.
15No longer will I make you hear the taunts of the nations, and no longer will you suffer the scorn of the peoples or cause your nation to fall, declares the Sovereign LORD.''
16Again the word of the LORD came to me:
17Son of man, when the people of Israel were living in their own land, they defiled it by their conduct and their actions. Their conduct was like a woman's monthly uncleanness in my sight.
18So I poured out my wrath on them because they had shed blood in the land and because they had defiled it with their idols.
19I dispersed them among the nations, and they were scattered through the countries; I judged them according to their conduct and their actions.
20And wherever they went among the nations they profaned my holy name, for it was said of them, 'These are the LORD's people, and yet they had to leave his land.'
New King James Version
13‘Thus says the Lord God: “Because they say to you, ‘You devour men and bereave your nation of children,’
14therefore you shall devour men no more, nor bereave your nation anymore,” says the Lord God.
15“Nor will I let you hear the taunts of the nations anymore, nor bear the reproach of the peoples anymore, nor shall you cause your nation to stumble anymore,” says the Lord God.’ ”
16Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
17“Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own ways and deeds; to Me their way was like the uncleanness of a woman in her customary impurity.
18Therefore I poured out My fury on them for the blood they had shed on the land, and for their idols with which they had defiled it.
19So I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed throughout the countries; I judged them according to their ways and their deeds.
20When they came to the nations, wherever they went, they profaned My holy name—when they said of them, ‘These are the people of the Lord, and yet they have gone out of His land.’
