Ezekiel 20:34-40
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 20
34
I will bring you out from the peoples and gather you from the lands where you are scattered, with a mighty hand and with an outstretched arm and with wrath poured out;
35
and I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will enter into judgment with you face to face.
36
Just as I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will enter into judgment with you,' declares the Lord
God
.
37
I will make you pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant;
38
and I will purge from you the rebels and those who revolt against Me; I will bring them out of the land where they reside, but they will not enter the land of Israel. So you will know that I am the
Lord
.
39
As for you, house of Israel,' this is what the Lord
God
says: 'Go, serve, everyone
of you
his idols; but later you will certainly listen to Me, and My holy name you will no longer defile with your gifts and your idols.
40
For on My holy mountain, on the high mountain of Israel,' declares the Lord
God
, 'there the entire house of Israel, all of them, will serve Me in the land; there I will accept them and there I will demand your contributions and the choicest of your gifts, with all your holy things.
King James Version
Chapter 20
34
And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out.
35
And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face.
36
Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord
God
.
37
And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant:
38
And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the
Lord
.
39
As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord
God
; Go ye, serve ye every one his idols, and hereafter also, if ye will not hearken unto me: but pollute ye my holy name no more with your gifts, and with your idols.
40
For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord
God
, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 20
34
I will bring you from the peoples and gather you from the countries where you were scattered, with a strong hand, an outstretched arm, and outpoured wrath.
35
I will lead you into the wilderness of the peoples and enter into judgment with you there face to face.
36
Just as I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will enter into judgment with you. This is the declaration of the Lord
God
.
37
I will make you pass under the rod and will bring you into the bond of the covenant.
38
I will purge you of those who rebel and transgress against me. I will bring them out of the land where they live as foreign residents, but they will not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the
Lord
.
39
"‘As for you, house of Israel, this is what the Lord
God
says: Go and serve your idols, each of you. But afterward you will surely listen to me, and you will no longer defile my holy name with your gifts and idols.
40
For on my holy mountain, Israel’s high mountain—the declaration of the Lord
God
—there the entire house of Israel, all of them, will serve me in the land. There I will accept them and will require your contributions and choicest gifts, all your holy offerings.
New Living Translation
Chapter 20
34
And in anger I will reach out with my strong hand and powerful arm, and I will bring you back from the lands where you are scattered.
35
I will bring you into the wilderness of the nations, and there I will judge you face to face.
36
I will judge you there just as I did your ancestors in the wilderness after bringing them out of Egypt, says the Sovereign
Lord
.
37
I will examine you carefully and hold you to the terms of the covenant.
38
I will purge you of all those who rebel and revolt against me. I will bring them out of the countries where they are in exile, but they will never enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the
Lord
.
39
As for you, O people of Israel, this is what the Sovereign
Lord
says: Go right ahead and worship your idols, but sooner or later you will obey me and will stop bringing shame on my holy name by worshiping idols.
40
For on my holy mountain, the great mountain of Israel, says the Sovereign
Lord
, the people of Israel will someday worship me, and I will accept them. There I will require that you bring me all your offerings and choice gifts and sacrifices.
