Exodus 3:1-7
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 3
1
Now Moses was pasturing the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian; and he led the flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.
2
Then the angel of the
Lord
appeared to him in a blazing fire from the midst of a bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, yet the bush was not being consumed.
3
So Moses said, 'I must turn aside and see this marvelous sight, why the bush is not burning up!'
4
When the
Lord
saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, 'Moses, Moses!' And he said, 'Here I am.'
5
Then He said, 'Do not come near here; remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.'
6
And He said, 'I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.' Then Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.
7
And the
Lord
said, 'I have certainly seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their outcry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings.
King James Version
Chapter 3
1
Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.
2
And the angel of the
Lord
appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.
3
And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
4
And when the
Lord
saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
5
And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
6
Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.
7
And the
Lord
said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;

Chapter 3
1
Meanwhile, Moses was shepherding the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.
2
Then the angel of the
Lord
appeared to him in a flame of fire within a bush. As Moses looked, he saw that the bush was on fire but was not consumed.
3
So Moses thought, "I must go over and look at this remarkable sight. Why isn’t the bush burning up?"
4
When the
Lord
saw that he had gone over to look, God called out to him from the bush, "Moses, Moses!" "Here I am," he answered.
5
"Do not come closer," he said. "Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy ground."
6
Then he continued, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." Moses hid his face because he was afraid to look at God.
7
Then the
Lord
said, "I have observed the misery of my people in Egypt, and have heard them crying out because of their oppressors. I know about their sufferings,

Chapter 3
1
One day Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of God.
2
There the angel of the
Lord
appeared to him in a blazing fire from the middle of a bush. Moses stared in amazement. Though the bush was engulfed in flames, it didn’t burn up.
3
This is amazing,' Moses said to himself. 'Why isn’t that bush burning up? I must go see it.'
4
When the
Lord
saw Moses coming to take a closer look, God called to him from the middle of the bush, 'Moses! Moses!' 'Here I am!' Moses replied.
5
Do not come any closer,' the
Lord
warned. 'Take off your sandals, for you are standing on holy ground.
6
I am the God of your father — the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.' When Moses heard this, he covered his face because he was afraid to look at God.
7
Then the
Lord
told him, 'I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their cries of distress because of their harsh slave drivers. Yes, I am aware of their suffering.
