Exodus 19:13-16
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 19
13
No hand shall touch him, but he shall certainly be stoned or shot through; whether animal or person,
the violator
shall not live.’ When the ram’s horn sounds a long blast, they shall come up to the mountain.'
14
So Moses went down from the mountain to the people and consecrated the people, and they washed their garments.
15
He also said to the people, 'Be ready for the third day; do not go near a woman.'
16
So it came about on the third day, when it was morning, that there were thunder and lightning flashes and a thick cloud over the mountain and a very loud trumpet sound, so that all the people who
were
in the camp trembled.
King James Version
Chapter 19
13
There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.
14
And Moses went down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.
15
And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not at your wives.
16
And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 19
13
No hand may touch him; instead he will be stoned or shot with arrows and not live, whether animal or human. When the ram’s horn sounds a long blast, they may go up the mountain."
14
Then Moses came down from the mountain to the people and consecrated them, and they washed their clothes.
15
He said to the people, "Be prepared by the third day. Do not have sexual relations with women."
16
On the third day, when morning came, there was thunder and lightning, a thick cloud on the mountain, and a very loud trumpet sound, so that all the people in the camp shuddered.
New Living Translation
Chapter 19
13
No hand may touch the person or animal that crosses the boundary; instead, stone them or shoot them with arrows. They must be put to death.’ However, when the ram’s horn sounds a long blast, then the people may go up on the mountain. '
14
So Moses went down to the people. He consecrated them for worship, and they washed their clothes.
15
He told them, 'Get ready for the third day, and until then abstain from having sexual intercourse.'
16
On the morning of the third day, thunder roared and lightning flashed, and a dense cloud came down on the mountain. There was a long, loud blast from a ram’s horn, and all the people trembled.
