Esther 8:6-8
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 8
6
For how can I endure to see the disaster which will happen to my people, and how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?'
7
So King Ahasuerus said to Queen Esther and to Mordecai the Jew, 'Behold, I have given the house of Haman to Esther, and they have hanged him on the wooden
gallows
because he had reached out with his hand against the Jews.
8
Now you write to the Jews as you see fit, in the king’s name, and seal
it
with the king’s signet ring; for a decree which is written in the name of the king and sealed with the king’s signet ring may not be revoked.'
King James Version
Chapter 8
6
For how can I endure to see the evil that shall come unto my people? or how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?
7
Then the king Ahasuerus said unto Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, Behold, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and him they have hanged upon the gallows, because he laid his hand upon the Jews.
8
Write ye also for the Jews, as it liketh you, in the king's name, and seal it with the king's ring: for the writing which is written in the king's name, and sealed with the king's ring, may no man reverse.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 8
6
For how could I bear to see the disaster that would come on my people? How could I bear to see the destruction of my relatives?"
7
King Ahasuerus said to Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, "Look, I have given Haman’s estate to Esther, and he was hanged on the gallows because he attacked the Jews.
8
Write in the king’s name whatever pleases you concerning the Jews, and seal it with the royal signet ring. A document written in the king’s name and sealed with the royal signet ring cannot be revoked."
New Living Translation
Chapter 8
6
For how can I endure to see my people and my family slaughtered and destroyed?'
7
Then King Xerxes said to Queen Esther and Mordecai the Jew, 'I have given Esther the property of Haman, and he has been impaled on a pole because he tried to destroy the Jews.
8
Now go ahead and send a message to the Jews in the king’s name, telling them whatever you want, and seal it with the king’s signet ring. But remember that whatever has already been written in the king’s name and sealed with his signet ring can never be revoked.'
English Standard Version
Chapter 8
6
For how can I bear to see the calamity that is coming to my people? Or how can I bear to see the destruction of my kindred?"
7
Then King Ahasuerus said to Queen Esther and to Mordecai the Jew, "Behold, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and they have hanged him on the gallows, because he intended to lay hands on the Jews.
8
But you may write as you please with regard to the Jews, in the name of the king, and seal it with the king 's ring, for an edict written in the name of the king and sealed with the king 's ring cannot be revoked."
New International Version
Chapter 8
6
For how can I bear to see disaster fall on my people? How can I bear to see the destruction of my family?"
7
King Xerxes replied to Queen Esther and to Mordecai the Jew, "Because Haman attacked the Jews, I have given his estate to Esther, and they have impaled him on the pole he set up.
8
Now write another decree in the king’s name in behalf of the Jews as seems best to you, and seal it with the king’s signet ring—for no document written in the king’s name and sealed with his ring can be revoked."
New King James Version
Chapter 8
6
For how can I endure to see the evil that will come to my people? Or how can I endure to see the destruction of my countrymen?”
7
Then King Ahasuerus said to Queen Esther and Mordecai the Jew, “Indeed, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and they have hanged him on the gallows because he
tried to
lay his hand on the Jews.
8
You yourselves write
a decree
concerning the Jews, as you please, in the king’s name, and seal
it
with the king’s signet ring; for whatever is written in the king’s name and sealed with the king’s signet ring no one can revoke.”
