Deuteronomy 19:10-13
New American Standard Bible
11But if there is a person who hates his neighbor, and waits in ambush for him and rises up against him and strikes him so that he dies, and he flees to one of these cities,
12then the elders of his city shall send men and take him from there, and hand him over to the avenger of blood, so that he may die.
13You shall not pity him, but you shall eliminate the guilt for the bloodshed of the innocent from Israel, so that it may go well for you.
King James Version
Chapter 19
10That innocent blood be not shed in thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee. 11But if any man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally that he die, and fleeth into one of these cities: 12Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die. 13Thine eye shall not pity him, but thou shalt put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee.Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 19
10In this way, innocent blood will not be shed, and you will not become guilty of bloodshed in the land the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance. 11But if someone hates his neighbor, lies in ambush for him, attacks him, and strikes him fatally, and flees to one of these cities, 12the elders of his city are to send for him, take him from there, and hand him over to the avenger of blood and he will die. 13Do not look on him with pity but purge from Israel the guilt of shedding innocent blood, and you will prosper.New Living Translation
11But suppose someone is hostile toward a neighbor and deliberately ambushes and murders him and then flees to one of the cities of refuge.
12In that case, the elders of the murderer’s hometown must send agents to the city of refuge to bring him back and hand him over to the dead person’s avenger to be put to death.
13Do not feel sorry for that murderer! Purge from Israel the guilt of murdering innocent people; then all will go well with you.
English Standard Version
11“But if anyone hates his neighbor and lies in wait for him and attacks him and strikes him fatally so that he dies, and he flees into one of these cities,
12then the elders of his city shall send and take him from there, and hand him over to the avenger of blood, so that he may die.
13Your eye shall not pity him, but you shall purge the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, so that it may be well with you.
New International Version
11But if out of hate someone lies in wait, assaults and kills a neighbor, and then flees to one of these cities,
12the killer shall be sent for by the town elders, be brought back from the city, and be handed over to the avenger of blood to die.
13Show no pity. You must purge from Israel the guilt of shedding innocent blood, so that it may go well with you.
New King James Version
11“But if anyone hates his neighbor, lies in wait for him, rises against him and strikes him mortally, so that he dies, and he flees to one of these cities,
12then the elders of his city shall send and bring him from there, and deliver him over to the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.
13Your eye shall not pity him, but you shall put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with you.
