Acts 2:37-44
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 2
37
Now when they heard
this,
they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, 'Brothers, what are we to do?'
38
Peter
said
to them, 'Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39
For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far away, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.'
40
And with many other words he solemnly testified and kept on urging them, saying, 'Be saved from this perverse generation!'
41
So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls.
42
They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
43
Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles.
44
And all the believers were together and had all things in common;
King James Version
Chapter 2
37
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
40
And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
41
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
42
And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
43
And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
44
And all that believed were together, and had all things common;

Chapter 2
37
When they heard this, they were pierced to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles: "Brothers, what should we do?"
38
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39
For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call."
40
With many other words he testified and strongly urged them, saying, "Be saved from this corrupt generation!"
41
So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand people were added to them.
42
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer.
43
Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and signs were being performed through the apostles.
44
Now all the believers were together and held all things in common.
New Living Translation
Chapter 2
37
Peter’s words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles, 'Brothers, what should we do?'
38
Peter replied, 'Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39
This promise is to you, to your children, and to those far away — all who have been called by the Lord our God.'
40
Then Peter continued preaching for a long time, strongly urging all his listeners, 'Save yourselves from this crooked generation!'
41
Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day — about 3,000 in all.
42
All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper ), and to prayer.
43
A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders.
44
And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had.
