FOR YOU WILL NOT ABANDON MY SOUL TO HADES,
NOR WILL YOU ALLOW YOUR HOLY ONE TO UNDERGO DECAY.

YOU HAVE MADE KNOWN TO ME THE WAYS OF LIFE;
YOU WILL MAKE ME FULL OF GLADNESS WITH YOUR PRESENCE.’

Brothers, I may confidently say to you regarding the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
30
So because he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn to him with an oath to seat
one
of his descendants on his throne,

Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
28
Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.
29
Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.
30
Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

29
Dear brothers, think about this! You can be sure that the patriarch David wasn’t referring to himself, for he died and was buried, and his tomb is still here among us.
30
But he was a prophet, and he knew God had promised with an oath that one of David’s own descendants would sit on his throne.
