Acts 11:9-19
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 11
9
But a voice from heaven answered a second time, ‘What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy.’
10
This happened three times, and everything was drawn back up into the sky.
11
And behold, at that moment three men who had been sent to me from Caesarea came up to the house where we were
staying.
12
And the Spirit told me to go with them without misgivings. These six brothers also went with me, and we entered the man’s house.
13
And he reported to us how he had seen the angel standing in his house, and saying, ‘Send
some men
to Joppa and have Simon, who is also called Peter, brought here;
14
and he will speak words to you by which you will be saved, you and all your household.’
15
And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as
He did
upon us at the beginning.
16
And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’
17
Therefore, if God gave them the same gift as
He
also
gave
to us after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God’s way?'
18
When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, 'Well then, God has also granted to the Gentiles the repentance
that leads
to life.'
19
So then those who were scattered because of the persecution that occurred in connection with Stephen made their way to Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except to Jews alone.
King James Version
Chapter 11
9
But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
10
And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.
11
And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me.
12
And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house:
13
And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;
14
Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.
15
And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.
16
Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
17
Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?
18
When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.
19
Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.

Chapter 11
9
But a voice answered from heaven a second time, ‘What God has made clean, you must not call impure.’
10
"Now this happened three times, and everything was drawn up again into heaven.
11
At that very moment, three men who had been sent to me from Caesarea arrived at the house where we were.
12
The Spirit told me to accompany them with no doubts at all. These six brothers also accompanied me, and we went into the man’s house.
13
He reported to us how he had seen the angel standing in his house and saying, ‘Send to Joppa, and call for Simon, who is also named Peter.
14
He will speak a message to you by which you and all your household will be saved.’
15
"As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came down on them, just as on us at the beginning.
16
I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’
17
If, then, God gave them the same gift that he also gave to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, how could I possibly hinder God?"
18
When they heard this they became silent. And they glorified God, saying, "So then, God has given repentance resulting in life even to the Gentiles."
19
Now those who had been scattered as a result of the persecution that started because of Stephen made their way as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except Jews.

Chapter 11
9
But the voice from heaven spoke again: ‘Do not call something unclean if God has made it clean.’
10
This happened three times before the sheet and all it contained was pulled back up to heaven.
11
Just then three men who had been sent from Caesarea arrived at the house where we were staying.
12
The Holy Spirit told me to go with them and not to worry that they were Gentiles. These six brothers here accompanied me, and we soon entered the home of the man who had sent for us.
13
He told us how an angel had appeared to him in his home and had told him, ‘Send messengers to Joppa, and summon a man named Simon Peter.
14
He will tell you how you and everyone in your household can be saved!’
15
As I began to speak,' Peter continued, 'the Holy Spirit fell on them, just as he fell on us at the beginning.
16
Then I thought of the Lord’s words when he said, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’
17
And since God gave these Gentiles the same gift he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to stand in God’s way?'
18
When the others heard this, they stopped objecting and began praising God. They said, 'We can see that God has also given the Gentiles the privilege of repenting of their sins and receiving eternal life.'
19
Meanwhile, the believers who had been scattered during the persecution after Stephen’s death traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch of Syria. They preached the word of God, but only to Jews.
