2 Kings 8:17-20
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 8
17
He was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned for eight years in Jerusalem.
18
He walked in the way of the kings of Israel, just as the house of Ahab had done, for Ahab’s daughter was his wife; and he did evil in the sight of the
Lord
.
19
However, the
Lord
did not want to destroy Judah, for the sake of David His servant, since He had promised him to give him a lamp through his sons always.
20
In his days Edom broke away from the rule of Judah, and appointed a king over themselves.
King James Version
Chapter 8
17
Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
18
And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife: and he did evil in the sight of the
Lord
.
19
Yet the
Lord
would not destroy Judah for David his servant's sake, as he promised him to give him alway a light, and to his children.
20
In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.
Christian Standard Bible

Chapter 8
17
Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years.

Lord
’s sight.
19
But the
Lord
did not want to destroy Judah, for he had promised his servant David that his descendants would continue to rule, shining like a lamp forever.
