Chapter 4

24Then she saddled the donkey and said to her servant, 'Drive the donkey and go on; do not slow down the pace for me unless I tell you.'
25So she went on and came to the man of God at Mount Carmel. When the man of God saw her at a distance, he said to Gehazi his servant, 'Behold, that person there is the Shunammite. 26Please run now to meet her and say to her, ‘Is it going well for you? Is it going well for your husband? Is it going well for the child?’?' Then she answered, 'It is going well.' 27But she came to the man of God at the hill and took hold of his feet. And Gehazi came up to push her away, but the man of God said, 'Leave her alone, for her soul is troubled within her; and the Lord has concealed it from me and has not informed me.' 28Then she said, 'Did I ask for a son from my lord? Did I not say, ‘Do not give me false hope’?'
29Then he said to Gehazi, 'Get ready and take my staff in your hand, and go; if you meet anyone, do not greet him, and if anyone greets you, do not reply to him. And lay my staff on the boy’s face.' 30The mother of the boy said, 'As surely as the Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you.' So he got up and followed her. 31Then Gehazi went on ahead of them and laid the staff on the boy’s face, but there was no sound or response. So he returned to meet him and informed him, saying, 'The boy has not awakened.'
32When Elisha entered the house, behold the boy was dead, laid on his bed.

And it came to pass, when the man of God saw her afar off, that he said to Gehazi his servant, Behold, yonder is that Shunammite: 26Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, Is it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with the child? And she answered, It is well. 27And when she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught him by the feet: but Gehazi came near to thrust her away. And the man of God said, Let her alone; for her soul is vexed within her: and the LORD hath hid it from me, and hath not told me. 28Then she said, Did I desire a son of my lord? did I not say, Do not deceive me? 29Then he said to Gehazi, Gird up thy loins, and take my staff in thine hand, and go thy way: if thou meet any man, salute him not; and if any salute thee, answer him not again: and lay my staff upon the face of the child. 30And the mother of the child said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And he arose, and followed her. 31And Gehazi passed on before them, and laid the staff upon the face of the child; but there was neither voice, nor hearing. Wherefore he went again to meet him, and told him, saying, The child is not awaked. 32And when Elisha was come into the house, behold, the child was dead, and laid upon his bed.

25So she came to the man of God at Mount Carmel.When the man of God saw her at a distance, he said to his attendant Gehazi, "Look, there's the Shunammite woman.
26Run out to meet her and ask, 'Are you all right? Is your husband all right? Is your son all right? ' "And she answered, "It's all right."
27When she came up to the man of God at the mountain, she clung to his feet. Gehazi came to push her away, but the man of God said, "Leave her alone--she is in severe anguish, and the Lord has hidden it from me. He hasn't told me."
28Then she said, "Did I ask my lord for a son? Didn't I say, 'Do not lie to me? ' "
29So Elisha said to Gehazi, "Tuck your mantle under your belt, take my staff with you, and go. If you meet anyone, don't stop to greet him, and if a man greets you, don't answer him. Then place my staff on the boy's face."
30The boy's mother said to Elisha, "As the Lord lives and as you yourself live, I will not leave you." So he got up and followed her.
31Gehazi went ahead of them and placed the staff on the boy's face, but there was no sound or sign of life, so he went back to meet Elisha and told him, "The boy didn't wake up."
32When Elisha got to the house, he discovered the boy lying dead on his bed.

Chapter 4

24So she saddled the donkey and said to the servant, 'Hurry! Don’t slow down unless I tell you to.'
25As she approached the man of God at Mount Carmel, Elisha saw her in the distance. He said to Gehazi, 'Look, the woman from Shunem is coming.
26Run out to meet her and ask her, ‘Is everything all right with you, your husband, and your child?’' 'Yes,' the woman told Gehazi, 'everything is fine.'
27But when she came to the man of God at the mountain, she fell to the ground before him and caught hold of his feet. Gehazi began to push her away, but the man of God said, 'Leave her alone. She is deeply troubled, but the Lord has not told me what it is.'
28Then she said, 'Did I ask you for a son, my lord? And didn’t I say, ‘Don’t deceive me and get my hopes up’?'
29Then Elisha said to Gehazi, 'Get ready to travel ; take my staff and go! Don’t talk to anyone along the way. Go quickly and lay the staff on the child’s face.'
30But the boy’s mother said, 'As surely as the Lord lives and you yourself live, I won’t go home unless you go with me.' So Elisha returned with her.
31Gehazi hurried on ahead and laid the staff on the child’s face, but nothing happened. There was no sign of life. He returned to meet Elisha and told him, 'The child is still dead.'
32When Elisha arrived, the child was indeed dead, lying there on the prophet’s bed.

26Run at once to meet her and say to her, ‘Is all well with you? Is all well with your husband? Is all well with the child?’” And she answered, “All is well.” 27And when she came to the mountain to the man of God, she caught hold of his feet. And Gehazi came to push her away. But the man of God said, “Leave her alone, for she is in bitter distress, and the LORD has hidden it from me and has not told me.” 28Then she said, “Did I ask my lord for a son? Did I not say, ‘Do not deceive me?’” 29He said to Gehazi, “Tie up your garment and take my staff in your hand and go. If you meet anyone, do not greet him, and if anyone greets you, do not reply. And lay my staff on the face of the child.” 30Then the mother of the child said, “As the LORD lives and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.” So he arose and followed her. 31Gehazi went on ahead and laid the staff on the face of the child, but there was no sound or sign of life. Therefore he returned to meet him and told him, “The child has not awakened.”
32When Elisha came into the house, he saw the child lying dead on his bed.

31Gehazi went on ahead and laid the staff on the boy's face, but there was no sound or response. So Gehazi went back to meet Elisha and told him, 'The boy has not awakened.'
32When Elisha reached the house, there was the boy lying dead on his couch.
