Chapter 4

10Please, let’s make a little walled upper room, and let’s set up a bed for him there, and a table, a chair, and a lampstand; then it shall be, when he comes to us, that he can turn in there.'
11Now one day he came there, and turned in to the upper room and rested. 12Then he said to his servant Gehazi, 'Call this Shunammite.' And when he had called her, she stood before him. 13And he said to him, 'Say now to her, ‘Behold, you have taken trouble for us with all this care; what can I do for you? Would you like me to speak for you to the king or to the commander of the army?’?' But she answered, 'I live among my own people.' 14So he said, 'What then is to be done for her?' And Gehazi answered, 'It is a fact that she has no son, and her husband is old.' 15He then said, 'Call her.' When he had called her, she stood in the doorway. 16Then he said, 'At this season next year, you are going to embrace a son.' And she said, 'No, my lord, you man of God, do not lie to your servant.'

10Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither.
11And it fell on a day, that he came thither, and he turned into the chamber, and lay there. 12And he said to Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunammite. And when he had called her, she stood before him. 13And he said unto him, Say now unto her, Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all this care; what is to be done for thee? wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people. 14And he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no child, and her husband is old. 15And he said, Call her. And when he had called her, she stood in the door. 16And he said, About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid.

11One day he came there and stopped at the upstairs room to lie down. 12He ordered his attendant Gehazi, "Call this Shunammite woman." So he called her and she stood before him.
13Then he said to Gehazi, "Say to her, ‘Look, you’ve gone to all this trouble for us. What can we do for you? Can we speak on your behalf to the king or to the commander of the army?’" She answered, "I am living among my own people."
14So he asked, "Then what should be done for her?" Gehazi answered, "Well, she has no son, and her husband is old."
15"Call her," Elisha said. So Gehazi called her, and she stood in the doorway.
16Elisha said, "At this time next year you will have a son in your arms." Then she said, "No, my lord. Man of God, do not lie to your servant."

10Let’s build a small room for him on the roof and furnish it with a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp. Then he will have a place to stay whenever he comes by.'
11One day Elisha returned to Shunem, and he went up to this upper room to rest. 12He said to his servant Gehazi, 'Tell the woman from Shunem I want to speak to her.' When she appeared,
13Elisha said to Gehazi, 'Tell her, ‘We appreciate the kind concern you have shown us. What can we do for you? Can we put in a good word for you to the king or to the commander of the army?’' 'No,' she replied, 'my family takes good care of me.'
14Later Elisha asked Gehazi, 'What can we do for her?' Gehazi replied, 'She doesn’t have a son, and her husband is an old man.'
15Call her back again,' Elisha told him. When the woman returned, Elisha said to her as she stood in the doorway,
16Next year at this time you will be holding a son in your arms!' 'No, my lord!' she cried. 'O man of God, don’t deceive me and get my hopes up like that.'
