2 Kings 21:1-6
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 21
1
Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned for fifty-five years in Jerusalem; and his mother’s name was Hephzibah.
2
He did evil in the sight of the
Lord
, in accordance with the abominations of the nations whom the
Lord
dispossessed before the sons of Israel.
3
For he rebuilt the high places which his father Hezekiah had destroyed; and he erected altars for Baal and made an Asherah, just as Ahab king of Israel had done, and he worshiped all the heavenly lights and served them.
4
And he built altars in the house of the
Lord
, of which the
Lord
had said, 'In Jerusalem I will put My name.'
5
He built altars for all the heavenly lights in the two courtyards of the house of the
Lord
.
6
And he made his son pass through the fire, interpreted signs, practiced divination, and used mediums and spiritists. He did great evil in the sight of the
Lord
, provoking
Him
to anger.
King James Version
Chapter 21
1
Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hephzibah.
2
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the
Lord
, after the abominations of the heathen, whom the
Lord
cast out before the children of Israel.
3
For he built up again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Baal, and made a grove, as did Ahab king of Israel; and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.
4
And he built altars in the house of the
Lord
, of which the
Lord
said, In Jerusalem will I put my name.
5
And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the
Lord
.
6
And he made his son pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the
Lord
, to provoke him to anger.

Lord
’s sight, imitating the detestable practices of the nations that the
Lord
had dispossessed before the Israelites.
3
He rebuilt the high places that his father Hezekiah had destroyed and reestablished the altars for Baal. He made an Asherah, as King Ahab of Israel had done; he also bowed in worship to all the stars in the sky and served them.
4
He built altars in the
Lord
’s temple, where the
Lord
had said, "Jerusalem is where I will put my name."
5
He built altars to all the stars in the sky in both courtyards of the
Lord
’s temple.
6
He sacrificed his son in the fire, practiced witchcraft and divination, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did a huge amount of evil in the
Lord
’s sight, angering him.

Chapter 21
1
Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem fifty-five years. His mother was Hephzibah.
2
He did what was evil in the
Lord
’s sight, following the detestable practices of the pagan nations that the
Lord
had driven from the land ahead of the Israelites.
3
He rebuilt the pagan shrines his father, Hezekiah, had destroyed. He constructed altars for Baal and set up an Asherah pole, just as King Ahab of Israel had done. He also bowed before all the powers of the heavens and worshiped them.
4
He built pagan altars in the Temple of the
Lord
, the place where the
Lord
had said, 'My name will remain in Jerusalem forever.'
5
He built these altars for all the powers of the heavens in both courtyards of the
Lord
’s Temple.
6
Manasseh also sacrificed his own son in the fire. He practiced sorcery and divination, and he consulted with mediums and psychics. He did much that was evil in the
Lord
’s sight, arousing his anger.
