2 Kings 18:33-36
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 18
33
Has any of the gods of the nations actually saved his land from the hand of the king of Assyria?
34
Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah? Have they saved Samaria from my hand?
35
Who among all the gods of the lands
are there
who have saved their land from my hand, that the
Lord
would save Jerusalem from my hand?’?'
36
But the people were silent and did not answer him
with even
a word, because it was the king’s command: 'Do not answer him.'
King James Version
Chapter 18
33
Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
34
Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah? have they delivered Samaria out of mine hand?
35
Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of mine hand, that the
Lord
should deliver Jerusalem out of mine hand?
36
But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not.

Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah? Have they rescued Samaria from my power?
35
Who among all the gods of the lands has rescued his land from my power? So will the
Lord
rescue Jerusalem from my power?’"

What happened to the gods of Hamath and Arpad? And what about the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah? Did any god rescue Samaria from my power?
35
What god of any nation has ever been able to save its people from my power? So what makes you think that the
Lord
can rescue Jerusalem from me?'
