In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria captured Samaria and led
the people of
Israel into exile to Assyria, and settled them in Halah and Habor,
on
the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
7
Now
this
came about because the sons of Israel had sinned against the
Lord
their God, who had brought them up from the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt; and they had feared other gods.
King James Version

7
For
so
it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,

7
This disaster happened because the people of Israel sinned against the Lord their God who had brought them out of the land of Egypt from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt and because they worshiped other gods.
New Living Translation

7
This disaster came upon the people of Israel because they worshiped other gods. They sinned against the
Lord
their God, who had brought them safely out of Egypt and had rescued them from the power of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt.
