2 Kings 17:12-14
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 17
12
They served idols, concerning which the
Lord
had said to them, 'You shall not do this thing.'
13
Yet the
Lord
warned Israel and Judah through all His prophets
and
every seer, saying, 'Turn back from your evil ways and keep My commandments
and
My statutes in accordance with all the Law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you through My servants the prophets.'
14
However, they did not listen, but stiffened their neck like their fathers, who did not believe in the
Lord
their God.
King James Version
Chapter 17
12
For they served idols, whereof the
Lord
had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing.
13
Yet the
Lord
testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.
14
Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the
Lord
their God.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 17
12
They served idols, although the
Lord
had told them, "You must not do this."
13
Still, the
Lord
warned Israel and Judah through every prophet and every seer, saying, "Turn from your evil ways and keep my commands and statutes according to the whole law I commanded your ancestors and sent to you through my servants the prophets."
14
But they would not listen. Instead they became obstinate like their ancestors who did not believe the
Lord
their God.
New Living Translation
Chapter 17
12
Yes, they worshiped idols, despite the
Lord
’s specific and repeated warnings.
13
Again and again the
Lord
had sent his prophets and seers to warn both Israel and Judah: 'Turn from all your evil ways. Obey my commands and decrees — the entire law that I commanded your ancestors to obey, and that I gave you through my servants the prophets.'
14
But the Israelites would not listen. They were as stubborn as their ancestors who had refused to believe in the
Lord
their God.
English Standard Version
Chapter 17
12
and they served idols, of which the
Lord
had said to them, "You shall not do this."
13
Yet the
Lord
warned Israel and Judah by every prophet and every seer, saying, "Turn from your evil ways and keep my commandments and my statutes, in accordance with all the Law that I commanded your fathers, and that I sent to you by my servants the prophets."
14
But they would not listen, but were stubborn, as their fathers had been, who did not believe in the
Lord
their God.
New International Version
Chapter 17
12
They worshiped idols, though the
Lord
had said, "You shall not do this."
13
The
Lord
warned Israel and Judah through all his prophets and seers: "Turn from your evil ways. Observe my commands and decrees, in accordance with the entire Law that I commanded your ancestors to obey and that I delivered to you through my servants the prophets."
14
But they would not listen and were as stiff-necked as their ancestors, who did not trust in the
Lord
their God.
New King James Version
Chapter 17
12
for they served idols, of which the
Lord
had said to them, “You shall not do this thing.”
13
Yet the
Lord
testified against Israel and against Judah, by all of His prophets, every seer, saying, “Turn from your evil ways, and keep My commandments
and
My statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by My servants the prophets.”
14
Nevertheless they would not hear, but stiffened their necks, like the necks of their fathers, who did not believe in the
Lord
their God.
