And Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the
Lord
and in the treasuries of the king’s house, and sent a gift to the king of Assyria.

So the king of Assyria listened to him; and the king of Assyria went up against Damascus and captured it, and led
the people of
it into exile to Kir, and put Rezin to death.

And the king of Assyria hearkened unto him: for the king of Assyria went up against Damascus, and took it, and carried the people of it captive to Kir, and slew Rezin.

Ahaz also took the silver and gold found in the

’s temple and in the treasuries of the king’s palace and sent them to the king of Assyria as a bribe.

So the king of Assyria listened to him and marched up to Damascus and captured it. He deported its people to Kir but put Rezin to death.

Chapter 16

Then Ahaz took the silver and gold from the Temple of the
Lord
and the palace treasury and sent it as a payment to the Assyrian king.

So the king of Assyria attacked the Aramean capital of Damascus and led its population away as captives, resettling them in Kir. He also killed King Rezin.
