Chapter 13

17 And he said, 'Open the window toward the east,' and he opened it. Then Elisha said, 'Shoot!' So he shot. And he said, 'The LORD’S arrow of victory, and the arrow of victory over Aram; for you will defeat the Arameans at Aphek until you have put an end to them.' 18 Then he said, 'Take the arrows,' and he took them. And he said to the king of Israel, 'Strike the ground,' and he struck it three times and stopped. 19 Then the man of God became angry at him and said, 'You should have struck five or six times, then you would have struck Aram until you put an end to it. But now you shall strike Aram only three times.'
20 And Elisha died, and they buried him. Now the marauding bands of the Moabites would invade the land in the spring of the year.

17 And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD'S deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them. 18 And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed. 19 And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.
20 And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.

17 Elisha said, "Open the east window." So he opened it. Elisha said, "Shoot! " So he shot. Then Elisha said, "The Lord's arrow of victory, yes, the arrow of victory over Aram. You are to strike down the Arameans in Aphek until you have put an end to them."
18 Then Elisha said, "Take the arrows! " So he took them. Then Elisha said to the king of Israel, "Strike the ground! " So he struck the ground three times and stopped. 19 The man of God was angry with him and said, "You should have struck the ground five or six times. Then you would have struck down Aram until you had put an end to them, but now you will strike down Aram only three times."
20 Then Elisha died and was buried.Now Moabite raiders used to come into the land in the spring of the year.

17 Then he commanded, 'Open that eastern window,' and he opened it. Then he said, 'Shoot!' So he shot an arrow. Elisha proclaimed, 'This is the LORD's arrow, an arrow of victory over Aram, for you will completely conquer the Arameans at Aphek.'
18 Then he said, 'Now pick up the other arrows and strike them against the ground.' So the king picked them up and struck the ground three times. 19 But the man of God was angry with him. 'You should have struck the ground five or six times!' he exclaimed. 'Then you would have beaten Aram until it was entirely destroyed. Now you will be victorious only three times.'
20 Then Elisha died and was buried. Groups of Moabite raiders used to invade the land each spring.

He struck it three times and stopped. 19 The man of God was angry with him and said, 'You should have struck the ground five or six times; then you would have defeated Aram and completely destroyed it. But now you will defeat it only three times.'
20 Elisha died and was buried. Now Moabite raiders used to enter the country every spring.
