2 Kings 10:25-29
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 10
25
Then it came about, as soon as he had finished offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the royal officers, 'Go in, kill them; let none come out.' So they killed them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the royal officers threw
them
out, and went to the sanctuary of the house of Baal.
26
They brought out the memorial stones of the house of Baal and burned them.
27
They also tore down the memorial stone of Baal and tore down the house of Baal, and made it a latrine
as it is
to this day.
28
So Jehu eradicated Baal from Israel.
29
However,
as for
the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, into which he misled Israel, from these Jehu did not desist,
including
the golden calves that
were
at Bethel and at Dan.
King James Version
Chapter 10
25
And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, Go in, and slay them; let none come forth. And they smote them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the captains cast them out, and went to the city of the house of Baal.
26
And they brought forth the images out of the house of Baal, and burned them.
27
And they brake down the image of Baal, and brake down the house of Baal, and made it a draught house unto this day.
28
Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.
29
Howbeit from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, Jehu departed not from after them, to wit, the golden calves that were in Bethel, and that were in Dan.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 10
25
When he finished offering the burnt offering, Jehu said to the guards and officers, "Go in and kill them. Don’t let anyone out." So they struck them down with the sword. Then the guards and officers threw the bodies out and went into the inner room of the temple of Baal.
26
They brought out the pillar of the temple of Baal and burned it,
27
and they tore down the pillar of Baal. Then they tore down the temple of Baal and made it a latrine —which it still is today.
28
Jehu eliminated Baal worship from Israel,
29
but he did not turn away from the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit—worshiping the gold calves that were in Bethel and Dan.
New Living Translation
Chapter 10
25
As soon as Jehu had finished sacrificing the burnt offering, he commanded his guards and officers, 'Go in and kill all of them. Don’t let a single one escape!' So they killed them all with their swords, and the guards and officers dragged their bodies outside. Then Jehu’s men went into the innermost fortress of the temple of Baal.
26
They dragged out the sacred pillar used in the worship of Baal and burned it.
27
They smashed the sacred pillar and wrecked the temple of Baal, converting it into a public toilet, as it remains to this day.
28
In this way, Jehu destroyed every trace of Baal worship from Israel.
29
He did not, however, destroy the gold calves at Bethel and Dan, with which Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to sin.
English Standard Version
Chapter 10
25
So as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, Jehu said to the guard and to the officers, "Go in and strike them down; let not a man escape." So when they put them to the sword, the guard and the officers cast them out and went into the inner room of the house of Baal,
26
and they brought out the pillar that was in the house of Baal and burned it.
27
And they demolished the pillar of Baal, and demolished the house of Baal, and made it a latrine to this day.
28
Thus Jehu wiped out Baal from Israel.
29
But Jehu did not turn aside from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which he made Israel to sin — that is, the golden calves that were in Bethel and in Dan.
New International Version
Chapter 10
25
As soon as Jehu had finished making the burnt offering, he ordered the guards and officers: "Go in and kill them; let no one escape." So they cut them down with the sword. The guards and officers threw the bodies out and then entered the inner shrine of the temple of Baal.
26
They brought the sacred stone out of the temple of Baal and burned it.
27
They demolished the sacred stone of Baal and tore down the temple of Baal, and people have used it for a latrine to this day.
28
So Jehu destroyed Baal worship in Israel.
29
However, he did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit—the worship of the golden calves at Bethel and Dan.
New King James Version
Chapter 10
25
Now it happened, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, “Go in
and
kill them; let no one come out!” And they killed them with the edge of the sword; then the guards and the officers threw
them
out, and went into the inner room of the temple of Baal.
26
And they brought the
sacred
pillars out of the temple of Baal and burned them.
27
Then they broke down the
sacred
pillar of Baal, and tore down the temple of Baal and made it a refuse dump to this day.
28
Thus Jehu destroyed Baal from Israel.
29
However Jehu did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who had made Israel sin,
that is,
from the golden calves that
were
at Bethel and Dan.
